Because this is the Rant... and no, I don't know what you mean.

everyone knows he isnt gonna win the heisman,

Once again, crazier things have been said on the Rant.

quote:

but even the defensive awards that dorsey received are lofty goals. and to think dorsey did it on one leg for half the season

I don't think anyone's expecting him to sweep the defensive awards. I would be very surprised if he falls out of the first 2 rounds of the draft regardless of him winning awards or not.

call me crazy but i think Tyson Jackson will have as big if not a bigger year than RJF.

That remains to be seen. TJ played adjacent to the best DT in the country last year and still put up pretty paltry numbers. He has the ability to put up huge numbers... sure.

Do you think RJF will stay for a senior year ala Glenn Dorsey

no

and technically, dorsey stayed 4 years. RJF will have stayed 4 years. no real difference to me

Also, Dorsey was more popular in the preseason last year than Jean-Francois is this year, which definitely helped him win those awards, if RJF puts up the same numbers, he wont win those same awards

If RJF leaves after this season:

Dorsey played 4 years, RJF played 3.

Dorsey graduated from LSU, RJF did not.

Those are differences.

to an extent, but RJF has a shite-ton of hype. he's herbie's #1 DT, for instnace

he's on mcshay's top DL list

which definitely helped him win those awards

preseason hype is by far the biggest reason he won the awards

quote:

possibly true, but no other DL has the same hype as dorsey outside of selvie

and the awards mean shite when it comes to the NFL draft

actually RJF played like 2.2

and dorsey was a sub in 2004 and i don't think he started much in 2005 either

in what world?

Man, no one in the NFL gives a flying frick what a DT scores on the Wonderlic test. No one really even cares what a QB scores on the Wonderlic (ask Vince Young).

RJF would be a fool to come back next year--barring some kind of injury. I could tell his red shirt freshman year that he was a beast. He was a sub and seemingly every play he was wreaking some kind of havoc.

I fully expect him to be better than Dorsey and that says a lot. Awards don't matter at all. He will be a top 4 pick in the draft next year and possibly #1 depending on who has the pick.

get off my back... i was joking about the wonderlic.. if vince young can play quarterback with a -4 on the wonderlic i am sure RJF can handle running after the guy with the ball...
