Nola crushed 2 balls right to SB. A lot of our hard hit balls were right at them. Just the way it goes.

Care to name names?

Here's a few that should not have been on the Roster. These guys do not have enough talent to be at a school like LSU.
Grant Dozar
Arby Fields
Alex Edward
Beau Didier
Casey Yocom
Jackson Slaid is questionable

we constantly faced defensive, 1-and-2 counts all weekend .. and faced that virtually the entire season .. we go overboard trying to work pitch counts early in games and seem to put ourselves in the constant spot of having to hit the pitcher's pitch and not a hitter's pitch .. defensive swings usually turn into double plays and lazy fly balls ..

Make no mistake, this thread was coming at some point (unless we won it all) whether we won yesterday or not.

Again, maybe some of yall need help with reading comprehension. I didn't say anything about Mainieri being fired this year, or even next.....but if he doesn't start to make changes this year like replacing Javi, and he goes out next year and doesn't make a serious CWS run, then you have to think the seat will get warm heading into the '14 season.

We're just one of a couple hundred mediocre programs who has a better than normal season once in a while. We might just as easily miss the NCAA tournament next year...again

man look at all these bandwagonning chicken littles. holy shite this is hilarious. Please stop attending LSU sporting events if this is your mantra now.

Stony Brook was a better team this weekend. As a whole they are not better than us. LSU will be just fine next season (as long as we get a real hitting coach). Relax, step away from the computer, and go have a cup of coffee.

But at any real school where performance is expected, Mainieri's seat would be quite warm.

I wish that your whiney little arse would get banned again. You are such a little pussy.

Unfortunately, I doubt we have a new hitting coach next year. If you wanted that to come to pass, probably should've been hoping we didn't host a regional this year.

not necessarily. good hitters or well coached ones know how to foul balls off and waste them.

The difference between SB and us was plate discipline. Hitting the ball where it's pitched and driving it the opposite way with regularity. Almost all LSU hitters especially a guy like Katz are all dead pull hitters. Instead of punching balls on the outer half to oppo field, our guys tried to hulk it out the park and ended up popping to shallow right or beating it into the ground by just rolling over on it. Very frustrating

where did you hear this from ? while the players were milling around the dugout after the game, they could clearly see the fans circling the field .. about two or three of them were standing against the wall talking to fans .. the coaches were waving them into the visiting clubhouse .. if the players "forgot", they would have to be blind ..

I heard a interview last week with Mainieri on 870 where he said that the players chose not to take a lap, and he liked that because it showed they had unfinished business.

I think that it happens. I predict he'll get a HC job at a smaller school.

I love how we were a mediocre team this year...after winning the toughest conference in the country and hosting a super regional.

I'd like a new hitting coach too, but statistically we were in the top half of the SEC hitting wise this season.

Like I've maintained most of the year, we are an average hitting team, not as bad as most believe. But we are LSU, and deserve and should expect to be near the top of the conference and country in hitting...and we weren't. We also should expect better athletes. Thats on PM and Javi.

Towards the end when Rhymes started to dip, that team BA sure did shrink.

Only regular players that ended the season over .300 were Rhymes, Katz, and Snikeris (didn't have as many AB's). I think Ross and Nola were close but majorly slumped this weekend.

he days of dominating baseball like LSU did during the Skip Bertman are long over. Some of you need to accept it. LSU shouldn't settle for mediocrity but it also shouldn't be CWS or bust either.

Exactly.

College baseball has too many good programs now and too much parity.

It's not the same scene as it was in the 90's.

Also, we should be MUCH improved next year at the plate. Bringing back our best hitters and adding Bregman.

This is what amazed me about SB. They seemed way more athletic than LSU.

sometimes you just get a group of kids that develop and are something special. 09 was one of those years for us.
