Actually I can assess route trees OK. I’m obviously not a coach but I played DB in high school and was a student of the game. It’s not that hard to tell who runs crisp routes if you know what your looking at and understand a basic route tree. It’s all about counting steps, angles , and change of direction. There’s obviously much much more, nuances within those basic elements but if you have played or coached some it’s easy to identify. Obviously these things become much harder in game situations because emotions come into play. Chase and Jefferson ran the cleanest routes against Miami. Giles looked good as well but was locked down by one of there best cover guys.
Drake was not a good route runner , Dee is improving but he’s still not even close to Chase/Jefferson. Sullivan’s also struggles and that’s why he will get limited PT in certain packages.

You're white, huh?
But seriously, Sullivan hasn't had the surest hands. I think he'll still get targets, but he's got to come down with some tough catches. I think Dee Anderson is more suited for that, but we'll see.

Looks like Dee Anderson took his reps
One issue I see with Dee, he's got to protect the ball better.

We have 6 receivers and completed 11 passes. No one will get enough touches if the offense can’t produce

Dillon should have moved to DB too. He’s our 6th best WR

Lunchpale always packed.
But I completely agree , I really like Sullivan and I think he could keep developing. By his SR. year he could be a monster. He’s never gonna get a ton of separation but if he can learn to use his body to block out DBs and win jump balls he could be a GREAT redzone threat.
Similar to the way the saints used colston, if your physical and have good body control you technically don’t need to be “open”. Guys that size are always open.

Sullivan posted a 20 yards/catch average last season. would have been higher too I believe he had a TD called back for OPI vs miss st
Dillon helped convert some key 3rd downs last season. both are extremely talented and I would expect LSU to continue to spread the ball around to receivers as they figure out their offense.

Anyone else notice both Sullivan and Anderson on the field together in our red zone (goal to go) offense? It was on our first field goal drive of the second half, when we had a first down on the 6. We ended up running on that play and getting down to the 3, so we went with a different personnel grouping on 2nd down (ran the slant to Chase that Willis batted).
But for anyone saying we need to utilize the size of these guys in the redzone, it looks like that is definitely part of the plan.

It’s easy to tell Jefferson runs the best routes. It’s no coincidence he was always open.
He has the best feet of any WR.

Not in any way a criticism of any patrticular player. Just an existential cry to all LSU receivers and TEs, as well as defenders who might have a chance at an int - Catch It!
