Well the media definitely matters, especially if you consider the play a significant role who plays in the BCS Championship game.

That's about as far as I got....

I know better

I never said I agreed, but under the current system getting the various sports writers that comprise "The Media" is important.

Secondly again that ranking is part of the BCS. 60 spots is a big difference.

St. is soooooooo much better of an opponent than McNeese, but in reality they are both perennial Top 5 teams in I-AA.

I'm very impressed with what McNeese has done. 11-0 is damn impressive. Too bad your DE wasn't able to play in the playoffs.

It's sad to make excuses about losing a game, especially that badly, but in terms of the offense those guys ran, an all american, speed DE would've mad a TON of difference. If we would have won that game, we would have had App. St in Lake Charles.

As for the rest of your arguments, I agree with everything you guys are saying. I'm mainly talking about some of the ill-informed posters that don't know anything about what we're talking about and decide to post and that's about all we get. I'm not one of the guys that think they can keep up with LSU. I know that. (We did have A&M beat a couple years back though) I just wouldn't mind seeing them play in Tiger Stadium. It wouldn't be like they'd have a problem selling the allotment on this side of the state.

If we are going to continue to consider playing these 'former 1-AA' folks,I'd rather play Southern,McNeese,NW State, etc than Appalachian State and The Citadel like we did in '02.

I did at the thought of McNeese asking for a home and home.

Some of you are so ignorant and think 1-AA sucks...Go watch a Southland conference game...it will change your mind....

I agree. Now,I don't advocate driving 100 miles to a 1-AA game unless you have some particular interest-- friend /family on team/staff.But,if you live in a town with a 1-AA team,go see them sometime. A few years ago we went to a Samford game in town vs Jax State one weekend LSU had an open date and had a blast. Those guys playing knock each others' heads off.Atmosphere is a lot different, too, where its no so intense as an SEC game, which isn't really a bad thing.

Southern officially is considered I-AA to be honest, They would be better fit one division lower. The SWAC is absolutely terrible.

+1000

ETA - At the start of what turned out to be one of the worst McNeese teams in history, they went to Southern and handled them easily. And Southern is the cream of the crop in the SWAC. They might as well be Division II or III.

I for one think that McNeese is by far the second best team in LA

Ummm, NO. What are you smoking?

Louisiana Tech would beat McNeese by over 20 points almost every year. Tulane would easily beat McNeese almost every year as well.

McNeese can beat teams like ULM and ULL but they would not dominate them if they played every year and. Heck, there are years when Northwestern State, Nicholls, and Southeastern are better than McNeese.

McNeese doesn't dominate divison 1 AA every year in Louisiana much less Division 1 schools.

Just for reference you do realize that according to the Sagarin rankings ULM was the second best team in the state last year? McNeese also finished about Tech.
