However, the loss in January set that respect level back a lot. I am a Miles fan, but the stubbornness that miles displayed in that game cannot be overlooked.

I was a big fan of JL, but subbing Lee in for JJ wouldn't have gained us much, given the way our OL was playing.

And now that we've seen Mett for four games, he wouldn't have been ready, either.

A lot of fans bagged on Miles for throwing Lee in too early, and ruining his development. I wouldn't be in favor of doing that to Mett, who may wind up to be a two year starter for us.

Why not just take a run at Gruden? While you're at it get Jerry Rice for the WRs?
Assinine are we? RR is a brilliant OC, just look at the difference in Arizona's offense this season. He was out of football last season, Kragthorpe had developed health problems and could not handle his OC duties, Miles could have easily brought in this guy who would have turned LSU's offensive talent into a juggernaut instead of turning it over to somebody who knows absolutely jackshit about running an offense like Studrawa. But an answer like the one you just gave is to be expected from some of you idiotic tards that supposedly support LSU football!

Miles lost a lot of national respect for the shite he put on the field 01/09/2012 in front of a national audience.

Y'know, being able to put anything, shite or not, on the field 01/09/2012, should speak for itself. There's a little over a hundred other coaches, some at very good programs, that would like that opportunity.
But, oh well, he was just lucky to get there, it's not like he's taken LSU to the title game before.

Oh, wait... he has. And unlike Urban (for example), he did it with a different set of core players, instead of riding one stud.

As for in-game adjustments, the previous 2 games against Bama, he made the right moves. Took Bama down in the second half both games.

Les ain't too shabby.

No dipshit. It's because you're saying Miles should have hired a guy that wasn't looking to be a coordinator. Hell, there were rumors flying around that LSU contacted RichRod and he wouldn't even entertain the call.

Btw, you need to join the google brigade and do some fricking research. Stud had top 5 offenses 2 out of the 4 years he was the OC @ Bowling Green. The other 2 were top 50 and averaging 400+ ypg.

I like Les Miles VERY much and I really like having his as our coach. However, notice Bama lost just as many folks as we did to graduation, draft, etc. Bama though, still plays fundamentally sound football every week. Maybe some growing pains here and there but solid and disciplined. Thats is ALL coaching!!!

I think we can all see that Nick is clearly the best coach in College Football, in large part because he has better players and is a defensive machine.

Les is right there, and has a 3-2 advantage over Saban in regular season meetings.

People can think what they want!

If we win the MNC game, everything would look different, but we lost in a big way...so perceptions remain

He is a solid #1 IMO. But I can't find anyone to put at #2 but Miles.

This is all true.....but, who else in the country would you turn the reins of LSU football to? I say the original post is accurate. Les could be, possibly the second best coach in America.

Right now I wouldn't want to roll the dice to find the Perfect coach...if there is such a thing.

No one really thinks JL wouldve won the game. But it was worth a try at that point.

And the real gripe with Mett was that by the NC game, there was no reason he shouldn't have been ready. He wasn't a frosh right out of high school and with all the blowouts last year he should've gotten much more playing time.

My biggest gripe with LM is the horrible offenses and our lack of being able to develop players.

Well there can only be one top coach & as long as Sabin has more NCS than Miles he will be on top & Miles will not get the respect he deserves .
I like Miles , can't argue with his sucsess , BUT so often I just don't understand him ???

and you know this how a-hole? Like you said in the other BS you wrote that it was rumors, so leave it at that! I doubt Miles contacted him because I know how Miles runs his ship by now. And I find it hard to believe someone like Rodriquez wouldn't be interested in OC'ing a powerhouse program like LSU for at least 1 season with a chance to win a NC!

that other shite you wrote about Studrawa running top offenses? especially at Bowling Green? LOL yeah, I can tell by the way the offense hummed along in the national title game last season, and so far this season. But you'll probably blame last season's championship loss on Jordan Jefferson like the rest of the POS on here. It's more about LSU's talent being the difference then Studrawa's offensive genius winning games you frickin, idiot!

Yea, them Cats scored a bunch against the Ducks.
I'll admit UO's D is a bit suspect and like 50th in total D.

The problem for Les is that when he is thrust into the public spotlight, he comes across as a bumbling idiot. We may think its kind of funny and just our adorable Les. However, the rest of the country thinks he is a goof who wins in spite of himself.

He did nothing to dispel that image in the national championship game.

I don’t know Les personally but he appears to be good person of good character. I doubt he is as goofy as his personal interviews would suggest. I have a difficult time believing that he could successfully do the job he has without intelligence and solid coaching ability. His perception is a result of national (not local) opinion. To overcome that national perception he will have to win on the largest stage (nat. champ. games) or come across in interviews as a highly intelligent competent coach (which he does not).

miles record the last 5 years is as good as anyone in the country. wins and losses is the only objective measure. we play in the toughest conference. so, when you add it all up miles is a very good coach, recruiter, administrator, ambassador.

ULTIMATELY, HE WILL GET CREDIT BECAUSE HE WILL KEEP ON WINNING AND WINS AND LOSSES IS WHAT COUNTS
