Faulk will be an interesting decision. the only 2 honored so far was the only Heisman winner and a 3-time All-American selection. if my memory serves me correctly, Faulk was named an All-American twice. That is still extremely impressive.

had a wonderful NFL career also
this has nothing to do with accolades awarded at LSU

I think Josh Reed will be also as far as I know he is the only belitnikoff winner
i dont see where Reed gets the nod. he had one unbelievably amazing season, but not enough to put him on that LSU football Mt. Rushmore

quote:

and had a decent NFL career
once again, this is LSU. for the sake of a discussion like this, we can leave the NFL out of it

Jamarcus had good enough numbers while at Lsu but his NFL emplosion will definitely keep him off forever.
that's strike three. stuff that happened away from LSU does not effect the LSU awards. if that was the case, you wouldnt see Mr. Cannon's love in the stadium. Think about that for a few minutes.

Believe it or not, I think Peterson doesn't make it. He may have been the most taletned player to ever wear purple and gold but career awards list and stats won't nessecarily bear that out.

Casanova was a three-time All-American.

Let's put it this way, no name should be added before Kevin Faulk's is included.

not even close. I love Kevin as a Tiger, and he has had a respectable Pro career, but he is not that level.

It is a good question and I understand your sentiment as you are an Alabama fan, but Faulk is not in the same boat as Cannon and Casanova.

IMO Kevin has more cred. In the history of the SEC only Herschel Walker has rushed for more yards than Kevin. Honestly, if he's not worthy then no one is worthy.

Well, if someone recently passed him big deal. It doesn't diminish his stats one iota

Are you kidding me? When he left LSU only Hershel had more yards from scrimmage in SEC history than Kevin Faulk. Its hard to imagine what he would have to do to get recognized by some of you.

The next Generation of LSU Leadership (i.e. TAF) would push for Faulk's nammed to be added to the stadium.

BUT only if he still holds key records.

I just don't see Faulk holding on the the all-time rushing record with the level of athletes LSU is bringing in. It's just a matter of time before we land the next great RB. (Hilliard, Ware, ???)

Wasn't Kevin Faulk the SEC career all purpose yardage leader? He is now 2nd in TDs to Tim Tebow, and 2nd in rushing yards to Herschel Walker. IMHO any guy that ranks the high in the history of the SEC deserves to have his name on the stadium.

I don't think Josh Reed has graduated yet. That is a deciding factor. I think he is working towards it though. As for Laron Landry, simply no. Dorsey, maybe. Peterson would need to graduate too.

Faulk does have 3 of the best 4 seasons for Average APY/Game though. #1 in career APY by ~1000 yards. #2 in Career Average YPG.

If we're picking anyone, I'm probably going with Faulk. I think we should wait a while though, don't wanna go around throwing every good player's name up.

Its going to take multiple super seasons by any one of those guys to surpass Kevin Faulk's all time rushing record at LSU. Won't happen anytime soon.

I am in the group that thinks he has to be the next name put up. No one else in recent history has the numbers, and made the contributions for 4 years that he has. Not even close.

Exactly. He had not only great SEASONS but a great career as well.

111.2 YPG in 41 games.

Then to touch his APY records you're looking at ~170 YPG. That'd be tough. REALLY tough.
