Do you think Kelly is stupid. Because he won a lot of games for a stupid guy.
I mean… Les was stupid and he won a ton of games as well

Les wasn't stupid, he was completely insane.

LSU is never boring.

Les miles ran the same couple of plays 80% of the time and it was never boring.

This is going to be great!

Unless we suck. Then we fire his arse, say we tried, and re-evaluate Napier & Aranda

Will Kelly's offense be boring

This is the only thing about the Kelly hire that worries me. His offenses are, yes, boring.

If he would bring in a young offensive mind like K. Briles or Herman and just tell them, "let slip the dogs of war", then it would be exciting...

But BK has his ways and his methods. If he follows his previous tendencies, he's going to hire a "yes man" OC and try to run the same offensive schemes he has had success with. I fear he's too set in his ways to change, but I guess we'll find out.

Remember, just a day or two ago right here on TD, there was a thread praising Georgia for still playing "old school offense" with success... but then on the biggest of stages and when it mattered most, that offense failed spectacularly today.

Kelly is going to have to be open to change at this stage of his career. I hope he will. $aban, of all stubborn "stuck in his ways" people, reluctantly let his assistants convert to a more spread offense a few years ago and it has netted him multiple championship rings since then.

Hopefully Kelly will do the same. No matter how many of those mountainous, cornfed, outstanding whiteboy linemen he pulls in from up north, they still won't be enough in the SEC. That's precisely what got Les Miles fired with a near 80% winning percentage in his LSU tenure.

If you end up in a shootout, you gotta be able to say "frick it" and fire all of your guns at once.

To clarify, I'm not trying to predict what Kelly will or will not do. Only he knows that. He now has athletes of a magnitude that he's never been able to have on a mass scale, so maybe he will change things up now. I'm just pointing out that his tendencies and history reflect that he might not.

Look at his offenses at Cincinnati where they could get skill position players and not as many lineman as I he could get at notre dame. Way more wide open. At notre dame they were handcuffed in being able to recruit a lot of skill position players for academic reasons. He seems to be a coach that adapts offensive scheme to available personnel. Just my opinion

Central Michigan
In his last year he had Dan LeFevour in his first year at QB. That team threw for 3400 yards and 28 TDs (3030 yards 26 TDs for him), LeFevour also ran for 500 yards and 7 TDs. LeFevour statistically became one of the best QBs in NCAA history

Cincinnati
-First year they threw for 3700 yards and 36 TDs.
-2nd year 3540 yards 26 TDs (first introduction of Tony Pike)
-3rd year 4000 pass yards 39 TDs (Pike and now first intro of Zach Collaros).

He left Central Michigan and Cincinnati with great identities on offense and QBs.

Now that I look over ND since he has gotten there, his starting QBs haven't been THAT, bad.

Everett Golson
had an elite year (3450 pass yards 34 TD 6 int, 280 rush yards 8 TD) and then got kicked out for cheating on a test. If nobody remembers, this is the guy who played like a game manager as a freshman and helped them to the championship game against Bama.

Deshon Kizer
The next year the team produced another good passing year (3350 pass yards 25 TDs) with Kizer having a great first year (2900 pass yards 21 TD 10 int, 525 rush yards 10 TD)

Kizer wasn't bad the next year either (2900 pass yards 26 TD 9 int 470 rush yards 8 TD)

Ian Book
Was good his first year starting only playing 10 games (throwing more than 3 passes in only 9 games). In 9 starts he threw for 2600 yards and 18 TDs and ran for 280 with 4 TD)

In his second year he was elite throwing for 3030 yards and 34 TD to 6 int while rushing for 550 yards and 4 TD. After that year he lost his top 3 pass catchers, two of which were 2nd round picks

All in all he produced three QBs at ND that would have been statistically better than anybody at LSU in that span except for Joe Burrow's 2019 year.

If we go back to traditional pro set it will be a disappointment. We just need balance and good qb play. Saban has problems with teams that have good qbs and balance. But

In BK I trust. We shall see…

I don’t care if he lines up in the I and runs it up the middle 20 times a game—if it works, do it. Start at the O-line and make that the nastiest group in the league and you will be successful no matter what offense you run.

In a typical year, Saban demoralizes his opponents by halftime. That's what I want to see. Don't give me that "Just win, baby" bullshite. It's not just winning - it's how you win.

He has a pretty strong record for a guy who can't get good players. I guess he is a pretty damn good coach
