He at least deserved to be invited to NYC. In my opinion the award is for the best player and all year long you heard commentators asking if they could cast their votes after 4 and 5 weeks.
He is still the same player. The fact that he was under CLM's non-creative offense and he played one less game doesn't change the fact that he deserved to be there. Henry never had runs close to Leonard's best.
Leonard should wait for his invite next year and snub the committee the way everyone turned on him this year. Fck them.

If he was a NBA player back in the day the agents would tell him to not play next year to avoid injury. Pretty sad we can't use him like we should and articles pouring giving reasons why he should not play next year.

I hope he wins and then snubs them by refusing to attend.
The Heisman has been a joke for years. It's "supposed" to be the BEST college player but rarely is. It certainly won't be this year.
LF is clearly the best RB in college. A few years from now he'll be a top back in the NFL while another guy may not even be in a backfield.

The Heisman Trophy usually wieghs heavily teams success. Look at who is going to New York this year
Derek Henry Playoff team SEC champ
Christian McCaffery Just missed the Playoffs pac 12 champ
DeShaun Watson Unbeaten playoff team ACC champ
Really the Heisman is the best player on a very successful team. LSU needs to be sniffing the playoffs if Fournette wants to win the Heisman. I think we will see him in a much more expanded role next year, getting passes out the backfield, running out of the shotgun, etc. we were to vanilla giving him the ball.

agree 100%, McCaffrey is the best IMO. Does that mean he will be a beast in the NFL? Nope and I don't think he will. He likely will be a role player in the right system. Multi-purpose type.

agree again and I think Henry will be a lot like McCaffrey a role player who will have to fit with the team that knows how to use him.

I agree, but when your wanting to not over use him and at the same time utilize and not ignore the talents of Guice its going to be hard. I would like to see him split out wide at receiver every now and then. The dude actually has ridiculous receiver skills even at his size.

After next years 9/4 season, NO

It hurt our team giving him the ball in certain situations all the time. He has made the playbook even smaller.
I mentioned this in a previous thread. He was running the ball so well the first half of the season that we didn't let BH get enough experience under his belt. Then when it became blatantly obvious to the opposing teams that we couldn't complete short to mid passes, all the defenses had to do was zero in on LF. That is the only reason Bama was able to shut him down like they did. Their Dline, while very good, didn't shut down and completely dominate any other Oline they faced like they did against us. Their entire focus was to get as many players to LF as quickly as possible and unfortunately, it worked perfectly.

No
9 wins looks like a stretch in the regular season.

Yeah, he did...and he also did it on the same field as Fournette in a head to head matchup. You may not like to hear or see it, but Henry was better than Fournette down the stretch when it counted. Without the fullback, Fournette looked like a middle of the road SEC running back.

Its about the legitimate threat of QB/WR play...If Harris can be at the very least "good" LF will kill it!! We also will not feed him the ball 44 times a game, cutting his professional career in half

Maybe leaning on him too much isn't what we need.
Henry had 339 carries in 13 games or 26.07/game. Fournette had 271 in 11 games or 24.64. The most carries Fournette had in a game was 32 vs A&M and 31 vs Florida. Henry had games with 38 (LSU) 44 (Florida) and 46 (Auburn). Its not that we used him too much, its that our passing game sucks due to the coaching staff's complete and utter inability to recruit and develop a decent QB and our OL fell apart at the most crtical time. Meanwhile Henry had 200+ is his last 3 (real) games and 4 or 4

Doubt it with our offensive scheme. He would win if he were at another school.

I agree completely. One good thing I can say about Les is that he is cognizant of a player's opportunity at the next level and respectfully does not burn them out. Saban is more than willing to do so and you can see it in several backs coming out of that program.

I really can't believe this stupid myth that college carries negatively impact a player's pro career as if the human body has X number of carries in it like it was a set of tires or something. Just look at the top RB in the NFL and look at their college careers, there is no correlation.

Obviously, you know what you are talking about. Now, go tell nearly all 29 year old former NFL running backs that they were not worn out prematurely by the number of accumulated carries over time (including high school and college).
It is staggering how few running backs that have a career at 30. Start naming them and you will realize that you might not want to throw around stupid any longer.

The severity of the Prime Time beat downs are a factor. It's frustrating, but the Heisman might as well be a team award that the team MVP goes on to accept.
Not really
Not for a while.
Henry leads the country in rushing yards AND he is on the best team.
If he had 1600 he wouldn't be in new york.
Jameis won because he had insane stats. So did RGIII and Manziel who were on teams that had no shot at a national championship.

Henry should have more carries. That's what you do when you are ahead in games is run. LF would of had a lot more carries if we were not trailing as much.
