No we had JD Moore that game because i remember posting a thread about how he would be playing that game. However, he played that one game and missed the rest of the year. And he also wasn't anywhere near healthy for that bama game

JD Moore was hurt way before Alabama game last year. Can't we pass to him more in this game. They will have the middle shut down. This is Bamas best defense in awhile

Because we present a decent threat in the passing game now and since the online seems to be coming into their own, I might be the only one to say this, but I see Fournette having a big game against Bama this time.

24 carries 179 yards, 2 TDs

The keys like always are can the Oline give Etling time to make his reads and can Etling make the correct read when confronted with Saban exotic blitz packages. If we can be effective with the short to intermediate passing game, LF will run wild.

This is what worries me. In a big game Alabama focuses on stopping what you do well first and foremost. Pretty sure Fournette had one of the worst individual performances of the season against Alabama, even though he was the best back they faced all year. Our OL wasn't the worst OL Alabama faced either, but they committed to taking away the run and did it to perfection.

any good team can shut down the run game, college or pros. it doesn't happen much in the pros any more due to the vast improvement in the passing game over the years so selling out to stop the run will hurt the defense.

so the real question is "can LSU's offense stop bama's front 7 from disrupting both our run game and our passing game". they did that last year without "stacking the box" or much blitzing.

imo, Miles lost that game because he and Cam couldn't run the kind of plays that slow down the lbers. I say it that way because those plays were not being executed properly. you need a passing game where the qb gets rid of the ball quickly. you know, the kind of plays teams with average or below average OL's.

to win this game, we have got to step up our pass blocking and run these quick pass plays. this will open up the run game more. I say Fournette will rush for approx. 100.

Moore was nowhere close to 100% in last year's Bama game. That aside, he's a terrific blocker, but I don't know think he is the key to LSU having success running against Alabama.

IRC, when teams have had success running against Bama, it's because they've spread them out then gashed them between the tackles. LSU's OL vs. Bama's DL isn't a great matchup for LSU. They'll have to get a bit creative in the running game and try to open up some cut back lanes. LSU isn't going to have much success trying to get wide

If LSU is going to have success, it's going to be by running right at Bama. The difference is that there will have to be more misdirection that what Miles would use.

I think he has a modest game. Maybe 20 carries for 110 yards. The difference is we will pass for a ton bc the Bama safeties will be run blitzing all game.

You know what I love most about this team now that Miles is not here is we have originality on offense now.

I can tell you one thing is that Alabama is sitting in their film room and with only having 3 games to look at are saying, dang, this offense is so much different then what we had to prepare for under Miles and Cam. That alone I love! Keys to the game which is pretty simple yet needs to be executed.

Quick passes.
Miss direction getting their defense leaning to one side of the field.
Etling getting the ball out quickly and making the right reads.
Offense keeping drives alive so this keeps their defense on the field.
Spreading their defense out.
Can't give turnovers to them and we have to play the best special teams game of the year.

They have scored in 10 straight games none offensive TD's, we can't let this happen!

Not without a successful threat from the passing game...

yes. he needs to be used on screens and wheels and circles and other routes other than just running. Exploit mismatches.

Weird to say, but this game depends on Etling.

Bama gets pressure without stacking the box or running alot of blitzs, so he has to be successful on quick short/medium passes.

Get the LB's worried about coverage and Fournette will have a good game.

Ensminger will have to call a hell of a game.

To me this 100% comes down to who gets movement on the line of scrimmage. Last year Bama's D line pushed our OL into the backfield on almost every play and Fournette never was able to make it into anything resembling open space.

They run blitzed all night. Had no fear of the pass.
