Ha. So the only two games Jarrett Lee has played well in, arguably for his entire LSU career, prove he's better than Jefferson?

quote:

and it is anything but clear that JJ will be better than JLee...

What's clear is that the two have competed for the same job for 2+ years, and since losing it (albeit due to injury somewhat) to a younger player, Lee has failed to seize it back. (and that's no compliment to Jefferson, rather a glowing indictment on exactly the type of player he is).

Not sure what fantasy you based this off of. The product on the field doesn't justify your opinion.

What product?

I can't even believe people are still arguing for Lee.

There's a reason his PT dried up at the end of last season...

Do you guys think the coaches want to lose? Does Miles prefer having all the fans openly debating how shitty he is for playing Jordan Jefferson?

Things would only be worse if he played Lee... JJ gives us the best chance to win (unfortunately) and it's been that way for 2+ years now.

THIS....unless he suffers a major injury at some pint which would cause him to miss the season...correct?

Well yes, but then you would be hoping he has a possible career ending injury!

But the "normal" redshirt situation is gone....

I still hold the opinion that these flaws are more of a product of the offense run by Crowton than the actual ability of the QBs.

I agree. I think Crowton's scheme mentally damaged Lee, and Jefferson was in the wrong scheme. While I do think Lee has all the physical tools to be a great QB, he just doesn't have the confidence, and unfortunatley I think it was ruined back in 2008 when Crowton relied on him too much. I'll be the first to say I really hope Kragthorpe can work with Lee, but Jefferson has more confidence in his play. This is why he's playing, and this is why we didn't see much of Lee last year, you can't play a QB who lacks confidence.

Glad Miles disagreed with you during the UF game.

Some of you vastly over estimate the QB play for the last two years. I don't believe for a minute Lee is as bad as you suppose he is. He probably isn't that good, but the competition hasn't raised the bar too high.

My contention isn't that Lee is very good. My contention is his competition was as bad as they come last year. JJ didn't play ahead of Lee because he was a better passer.

No...one can be granted a sixth year, after completion of their 5 years, if they've missed 2 seasons because of injuries or other factors out of their control. So for him to get a 6th, he needs to miss 2 of the next 3 because of injury.

JL has a great release, sure, and his footwork actually isn't terrible. But he has happy feet, he's nervous in the pocket, doesn't want to take a hit

No one "wants" to take a hit but that's different than being willing to take a hit.

If you remember JL made a huge throw to RR in the Tenn game and got drilled in the process.

At what point during me saying that JJ Is better than Lee (though still terrible) did you assume I was over estimating?

quote:

I don't believe for a minute Lee is as bad as you suppose he is.

Why? For what reason do you "believe" in the greatness of Jarrett Lee, despite the overwhelming body of evidence that goes against your claim?

quote:

Glad Miles disagreed with you during the UF game.

Lee played pretty well that game. Not as well as he's given credit for, but pretty well. He exposed the same read 2x, which were both like 5-10 yard throws where Toliver did the rest of the work. He did make a nice throw on the fade, however.

My contention isn't that Lee is very good. My contention is his competition was as bad as they come last year.

And my contention is that as bad as his competition is... he's worse.

Right. He played ahead of him because he's a better overall player that gives the team the better chance to win...
