Why you are wrong to count out Jarrett Lee

Anyone that has written off Jarrett Lee is just wrong.
He has amazing raw skills, a top-10 NFL style RELEASE of the football (shows his amazing potential), and NOW FINALLY has a REAL QB coach and a real chance to show what he can do WITH a good offensive line, good running backs, good recievers, good OC and a good supporting defense (certainly not the case for all the poor field position and game situations he faced in 2008 as a RSF) - ALL IN PLACE AT THE SAME TIME.
And of yeah, he is a Senior, and is hungry to take advantage of this one last chance to live out his dream of big time college starting QB(his RSF campiagn was hardly fair of a chance to him), and to advance his chance at the Pros
Will he do it?... no one knows for sure.
BUT - Krags offers 3 things that are tailored things for JLee...Krags is THE PERFECT man to give JLee a chance to develop into what Pat Summerall and Rivals and others thought he would be coming out of Brenham, Texas:
1) A fresh start in a Jarrett Lee-friendly sytle of offense, with a real offensive identity that serves his game well.
2) Specialty in advising a QB on decision making
3) Specialty and focus on footwork, where Krags has consistently stressed specific drills and the utmost importance of footwork to QB'ing.
Do not be surprised to see all three of our QB's as capable SEC starters, and if that is the case, Jarrett Lee MAY (plausibly) just be the starter not too long into the season, and possible to start the season. Krags offense is a much better match for Lee than JJ and Lee is a 5th year Sr Qb; over Mett as a Sophomore who has 2 additional years in front of him to show his wares.
I am NOT YET saying that Lee will win the starting job, as I think any of the 3 can do that at this point.
They will all be adequate SEC QB's after Krags is through with their season preparation.
But I AM saying that Lee has a very good chance to leave LSU as did another 5th year Sr from Texas (Flynn) who had to persist through adversity before rising to the top of the hill - hopefully next January in New Orleans for the BCSNCG.
Don't count out Lee. It makes much more sense for what I outline to unfold. It is a REAL possibility.

Jefferson starts, if he faulters, Lee will have a short leash.

@ posters overreacting to this whole Lee deal.
I knew as soon as I saw that Mettenberger was signed that people would want and expect him to start like there would be no learning curve or learning any type of offense.
DAMN LES MILES AND HIS SENIORITY FAVORITISM!!!!

I can see some of your points, but that's a bit of a leap.
By all accounts (both from Miles' words and from first-hand observers) JJ is the clear frontrunner.
He also has the benefit of incumbency--yes that matters a little. The most likely scenario is that JJ will start unless and until he shits the bed.

In their defense, Cam Newton didn't take too much of a learning curve, huh?

Hell, I don't know why anyone is counting out anyone a whopping 3 weeks into both Krags/Metts 1st ever LSU practice sessions.
Will JJ/JL be futher along/know their teammates better....hellooooo...they been here for 3-4 YEARS of practice/games as opposed to 3 WEEKS.
All this is to be expected at this point in time and while I think it's unlikely anyone other than JJ starts out of the blocks...who in the hell can say for sure on 4-4-11???
I would suggest we chill some and see how things progress before we start with the questioning of every move by the staff and jumping to conclusions based off practice reporting by fans and reading between the lines of coaching comments.

Previous history applies to JL, but JJ is immune to it because...
JJ supporters are delirious. Never has any return starter looked as lost and out of his league than Jordan Jefferson at LSU. Yet he has the most spitefully loyal supporters. If JJ is capable of being so great this year, than why not JL? The hypocrisy is what's so maddening about JJ supporters.

Why you are wrong to count ON JL: his entire career minus one pass during the Auburn game. And that's a stretch for the kid.
Edit: NOT a JJ supporter. As far as I'm concerned, our QB options right now is like trying to find someone to vote for in the '08 election (I know it's not realistic to start Mett, so between JJ and JL)

Jarrett Lee has shown sparks, so hopefully he'll finally make a complete breakthrough maybe. But I'm not holding my breath.

I think Jarrett Lee really excelled in the backup role coming in when JJ was having trouble. It seemed like the weight was off his shoulders then and could come in having already seen some plays develop from the sideline. For some reason, when he starts, he is off his rocker.
I just love how practically our only weakness last year might just become an embarrassment of riches this year.

Atlantalsufan is a blind bat as if the same isn't for JL supporters but to the OP I posted yesterday that Mett probably wouldn't even start over Lee if JJ is terrible or injured. If JJ is out he will start the next SAFEST QB. JL is capable of coming in and winning games see his whole career for reference.
I can't believe that if you were the coach, and in a game time situation, were the year literally has NC hope riding on it, that you would play the JUCO SEC-untested sophmore QB over a 5th year senior who has a year of starting/playing experience at his dismissal.

If it wasn't for the fact that JL has been unable to beat out JJ for 2+ seasons now, you might have a point.

Yes, but what i said in this original post is that he has a top 10 NFL "release". His release is definitely NFL caliber, and i contend top-10 NFL caliber.
As for his "POTENTIAL" to be a top 10 NFL QB, that is possible, but not what i was saying. Lee has 2 issues to rectify, and if he does that, THEN AND ONLY THEN would I say he has the "POTENTIAL" to be a top-10 NFL QB (as much as any one has such a potential, that is). He has poor footwork and poor decision making. These are the VERY BEST attributes of Krags as a QB coach, and what he stresses the most. The way I see it, Krags offers the dream scenario that gives Lee his best chance at overcoming his two issues. If he does, Lee has no other issues, and he will be a top 5 NFL QB drafted in April 2012. That is a leap, so if someone cherry picks that apart, I hope they will only do so if they come up with smart and compelling rationale to refute my assertion and rationale (footwork and decision making)...
