Why does this board think he wants to transfer so bad? There's no indication he wants to go anywhere but LSU. If he had any plans to transfer you wouldn't see him having fun with everyone on the sidelines. He wants to compete. He'll go to spring at minimum and if they don't give him starting job or give him something attractive to stay, he'll have an opportunity to the portal. Does that mean he will? Maybe or maybe not. Maybe he's not a pussy like a lot of these other impatient players are. He's not guaranteed a job anywhere even if they say he is. He has to earn it just like LSU. Worst case he waits 1 more year but he still has a big opportunity to play next season because JD's style is high risk for injury.

LSU needs to do everything they can to drop money bags on Nuss/Howard so no university tampers them. Our QB room will be set for years.

Going off of what Kelly said in his postgame presser, it's not really making something up to read it that way.

The actual quote from Kelly...
quote:

“There's no quarterback controversy, Jayden is the No. 1 quarterback. Garrett will get an opportunity to compete, though.”

Does not equal what you said...
quote:

he's basically been told that he won't be given a real chance

Joe left to so that he could start is RS Jr year as he had gotten passed up by Dwayne Haskins, who was a year younger than him. If Nuss stays, he be the favorite to his RS JR year, just like Burrow.
Did Joe enter his RS sophomore year with Heisman odds and a 300 yard performance vs the national champion in one half?

Joe also was only recruited by Cincinnati and LSU. Nuss is going to have to turn down some big numbers.

If it was your son you know how you'd feel about him sitting behind Jayden again.

Every team has a backup. Should he lose the job to JD, he knows he is just 1 injury, bad series(coaching decision), etc. away from stepping right in.

The question is, does he want to be a backup for another year? There's no guarantee that Daniels gets hurt or plays bad enough to get pulled.

Also he would be the solidified starter for ‘24

I mean maybe, but that's definitely not guaranteed. A lot can change in a year's time.

I would bet there are power 5 teams out there right now that are in need of a starting type of quarterback and would love to have Nussmeier.

Kelly has already said that there isn't a controversy.
There’s only a controversy if Nuss makes it into one. Maybe he realizes he has things to work on before becoming QB1 and sees the opportunity to be part of championships here is better than going somewhere else where the team is not as well positioned for championships.

I mean, I don't know how you can glean anything else other than Kelly guaranteeing Daniels the starting job off of that quote.

I don’t think it’s Nuss you have to be worried about leaving. It’s Howard. If Nuss stays it’s his team in 2024. Howard didn’t come here to sit for 3 years. He came to redshirt and sit possibly 1.
This is illogical.

Like BAMA and Georgia continue to do. BAMA and GEORGIA gave 5 stars sitting on the bench

What he hell are you talking about. There were a couple of blue chip QBs at Georgia when Bennett earned the starting job. Sports talkers were surprised when Bennett was named the starter. The losers transferred.

They're wishcasting. They're so angry that Daniels is QB1 they want Nussmeier to transfer to another SEC team and destroy LSU to teach Kelly a lesson. Deranged.

Lol yeah it's Nuss's fault for making it into a controversy.

Kid has been a great teammate, kept his nose clean and completely opened up the passing game when given the opportunity.

I hope he stays but id your kid lit up Georgia like a goddamn Christmas tree and then still has to sit behind Mr. 80 yards in multiple SEC games you'd be pissed.

Y'all are coming at this with purple and gold glasses on.

Also what about TCU in the natty, you don't think they're going to call Nuss? Are they set up to get to a championship?

Here comes the resident board racist who is still butthurt that people didn't like Anthony Jennings, Brandon Harris and Jordan Jefferson at QB because everything is racist if the black guy isn't first.

1. Maybe he likes being at LSU.

2. He knows that once JD leaves, the starting spot is all his.

Nuss knows 2 yrs at TCU, he could go second round or better. Can get a nice NIL deal too.

Stick around and he might not even be the starter in 2024.

I don't think he wants to transfer so bad. I could definitely understand his mentality if he did transfer though.

quote:

That's not really an indication that he thinks his best chance is staying here. People that transfer out always retweet and like things on social media from their previous teams. Transferring out is not always about if you love or hate where you are. There's more to it for a lot of guys.

quote:

He wants to compete.

I believe he wants to compete as well. But if he believes that regardless of how well he competes and how well he does in comparison to Daniels that he won't be given a fair shake because the staff has already picked their guy, then I could certainly see why he would look elsewhere.

That's all I'm saying.

Plus he is heir apparent for the next 2 years with a mature high performing offensive line in front of him, 5 star receivers to throw to, and incoming stud running backs to hand the ball off to... hell yeah I would ride the bench in 2023 for the chance at that versus way less elsewhere.

They got equal reps in bowl practice. That's not a small detail.

Maybe ….

He sees Walker Howard every day and says despite this dude being an all world recruit I see him and feel there is no way he beats me out.

So I’ll have limited action in 2023 but by 2024 I’ve earned it and will light it up and win a natty on my way to the NFL

Maybe he knows he won’t beat Jayden but feels Howard can’t take him

Why would Kelly give Nuss 1Q reps in the bowl game if he had no chance at competing for the starting job this spring?

I'm glad Joe Burrows didn't think like that. What does that say for a QB/Leader, who is willing to sit the bench for a potential "Ring" rather than be the leader of a championship team.

I don't believe Daniels will lead us to a Championship.
Did you forget LSU playing Georgia.
Georgia barely beat Ohio St.
Ohio St was beaten by Michigan.
TCU beat Michigan.
After four years as a starter, he played like crap vs T A&M.
