Why was Reeves playing so far in?

That’s an out if he’s at normal depth

Correct. Bad positioning

Especially w 2 strikes, wtf defensive positioning is that
Posted on 6/2/25 at 11:15 pm to Meauxjeaux
That’s why he’s been riding the bench half the year.

Because he fricking sucks. He should be playing for McNeese

Because we have the best defensive aligner in all of college baseball according to Jay

Ball took a crazy high hop

I don’t think the player decides his own positioning…

But how do the coaches not catch that? That’s insane.

Pretty normal with a left hander at the plate. Takes away the drag bunt.

ONCE AGSIN AWFUL DEFENSIVE ALIGNMENT

You can still drag with 2 strikes and anything coming off the bat to 3rd is going to be a slow roller. Again, that's pretty normal positioning with a lefty at the plate.

He just made a good play. He can hit, his defense is ok

TigerLunatik nailed it.

when is the last time you saw that? is it more common than a chopper to third?

apparently not...?
He seemed to play ahead of the bag. That should've been routine.
The single up the middle should've been a play at SS too. Not sure why Milam wasn't in double play depth shading toward the middle a bit more.

There was already 1 out in a 2 run game, in the 8th!, with a runner on first.
No way you're trading an out to get a single runner in scoring position down 2 with only 5 outs left in the game.
And you're not chancing a drag bunt especially in that situation with 2 strikes.
Or at least it appeared the LR coach was not dumb enough to do any of that. That dude seemed to know his stuff.

Wanaka is the primary defensive positioning guy
