Getting paid the same amount if he was employed or terminated. No incentive to win.
Basically communism

He was a wino. The only time I saw him smile was that sec reality show when he asked his friends if they wanted another bottle opened.

He was a slime politician. Not a coach

Look at his latest roster. Does he know nothing of football? Being possessed of an enervating sloth is the best explanation for the detritus that he called a football team. Further it was poorly coached. Yeah, I’d agree with lazy.

Sure, he had a guaranteed contract. No incentive to put too much effort into trying to win games.

Seems like he was too hands off and lets his Coordinators and position coaches run with little input. works great when you have Denbrock & Baker, awful when you have Sloan & House.

I believe he thought he was going to just walk in and automatically get in the playoff and back into a natty. Without much effort. It don't work that way fella.

I think he's inherently lazy as a coach which is why he delegates so much to his staff. He's not a likable guy to begin with so there's not a connection with any of his players. No one at Cincy, ND, or LSU was sad to see him go. Giving a man his age 100 million guaranteed is set up to fail. Then you throw in the fact that he drinks heavily, plays golf frequently, and is living like a bachelor without his wife here. Total disaster.

I think he was retirement aged, a millionaire several times over, and was content to just mail it in. Also he's a massive douchebag.

I think he had to work harder at ND due to the infrastructure of the program not being as robust as LSU. It was like once he got here and realized he did not have to do as much he slowed down and through the bus would just drive its self to gameday.

Why was Kelly lazy?

Okay, do me a favor and go back and watch the opening game last year against the Trojans. Please count for me how many times BK let our rb's get blown up on 3rd & 1 and 4th & 1 with these slow read dives where Nuss refused to tuck it even when USC was already in our backfield crashing down (literally sending 9 straight up the center's arse).

Now then track for me how long it took BK to make an adjustment to this (not in the USC game, I'm talking the entire season).

So in conclusion I'll pinpoint his laziness, incompetency and ineptitude to the USCw game. Actually probably before that but Jayden helped mask things obviously.

He was quoted as saying “I want to beat Nick Saban” when asked why he took the job. Once he did that, it was mission accomplished and he coasted.

It was all about getting even for that humiliation in the 2012 Natty.
