It is what it is. I am not one for making excuses and adding to his stats because of adversity faced due to drops and stuff. Every game has its what if's. Better to focus on the numbers that actually came out instead of make believe what ifs after all I am sure JJ would have been better had the receivers never dropped any of his also.
But this is the rant so as they say.... when in Rome. sigh here goes. People keep adding up all the yards he would have had if there hand not of been penalties and drops but they leave off the yardage for the extra offensive plays they would have lead to. So JL easily should have thrown for 400 yards if they had not dropped any passes.

His WR's could have helped him out much more. Could have easily been a 15 / 22 for 150+ night with a 2nd half in which we didn't have to throw the ball.

Lee bashing is actually down compared to usual IMO

Team sweep members still have bad case of the butthurt.

there are a few thing I'm leaving out.
Good checks at the line of scrimage.
Flawless no huddle offense.
NO wasted time outs
No confussion in the huddle.
This is a plus from last year.

is anyone really "bashing" him? he just needs to play better than he did Saturday; hell les said as much after the game that JL was capable of playing better than he did. that's all I'm saying at least.

couple nice throws on 3rd down to extend drives.
nice throws, threw it away when he needed to, took the sack when he needed to.
the offense wasn't set up for him to throw for 300 yards (only what? 22 passes) just like it wasn't for jj a year ago. but if he can bring our 3rd and 5/6/7 conversion rate up from a year ago, our offense will be fine.

LSU fans love to bitch. As long as there is a backup QB, someone will want him to play.
So true. After the VT game in 2002, everyone was calling radio shows and demanding they put Randall in over Mauck.
Things never change.

I thought he played well. Still looks scared in the pocket and throws/slings the ball off backfoot or while rotating his left foot to the left.
I think some people(myself included) are a bit dumbfounded with the amount of praise heaped on JL for basically putting up JJ type of numbers minus any running yardage.
If no one had watched the game but only saw the stat line they would have said JJ sucks thinking JJ was qb.

It's early in the season.
LSU can win a championship with Lee at QB.

Biggest difference is third down percentage. It is better with Lee. Less third and tens, less 3 and outs.
I feel much more comfortable with Lee in there when it's third and long than I ever did with JJ. What about you?

there's really not that many ppl "down" on him. there are a handful of dumbasses that are (and will be no matter what), but the criticism has been mostly constructive.
This. People aren't "down" on Lee for saying that his performance in the opening game was average at best. It was. He can improve.
The criticism only looks "down" when compared to people saying it was a great performance or that Lee is now better than JMAC was in 09'.

I don't think many are down on him. Just some look at the big picture that he will have to improve if we are going win week in and week out, while some have been sniffing his jock for so long, they nut on themselves when he completes passes.
I for one, was pleasantly surprised with his play this weekend, but understand that there are things he still needs to work on, ie. throwing off his back foot. If he plays the way he did saturday, bama will eat him alive.
It's a shame that some people on here want Lee to succeed so bad just to say i told you so to the JJ supporters that they throw the WRs under the bus to sugarcoat Lee's performance.
I am not saying the WRs didn't drop some passes, but not nearly as many as some would like you to think. Our passing game (Qb and Wrs) need to get better as a whole if we want to run the table this year.

You need to watch the game again. On a majority of the 3rd down and longs his passes were no where close to the first down marker. Had JJ made the same decisions this board would crucify him for throwing a ball 3yds downfield in the flats to a TE that had 3 men around him on 3rd and ten.
I also have heard people saying we scored 40 w/ lee etc. I hope they realize Lee was 2-6 in the 2nd half when we scored 24 pts. The 2 completions were great but come on it isn't like he drove us down the field with his arm. The o-line and rb's were the main reason why the offense was succesful.
It was one game. He didn't hurt us and made some good plays. The one where he ran around in the pocket looking for his tail was a bit concerning though.

I'm judging by last year as well. I just feel more comfortable with him in. He drove us down the field many times with the game on the line, and would have done so against Auburn if his reciever wasn't three yards shy of the first down on 4th with a DB hugging his arse. Instead of throwing it, Lee tried to pick it up on the run. Got stopped two yards shy. That's good decision making.

Leave it alone. Like me, you're basically against the hypocrisy of most of the new "positigers" on the board. Unfortunately, opposing them comes across as being against Lee. It's not worth it. Lee's a good kid who's trying to do well for the team now. And he's definitely our best option considering the circumstances.
You can't address fans' character issues on an anonymous message board. Let's enjoy the season.
