re: Why not Shreveport?

Coming from someone who has lived in BR for 10 years and Shreveport for 4 years, I can honestly say that Shreveport is not that bad. Yes, it's lacking in the food department, but...the Copelands is better than the one in BR (by a mile), one of the best steaks I've eaten to this day is at this dive called The Cub in Shreveport (also get the marinated crab claws). There are like 5 major casino hotels in the downtown area between S'Port/BC. When I was there (this was from '01-'05) the bars downtown stayed open 'til 6 AM. YES...6 AM. Oh...and there are more saints fans up there than you think. It's not that bad of a place to hold a football game.

Whatever they decide, they better decide quickly. LSU needs to play this game and the western gulf coast is not a good place to play this weekend.

I agree that the southern part of the state seems to have a prejudice against playing in Shreveport.
Its the coonasses. They think anyone that isn't one of them is a threat, especially within the border of Louisiana.

Well, what happens to the 42,000 people that can not use their tickets, that they have already paid for, to get into the game?
That question would have to be answered at either stadium, and it's a tough one.
not really...it's actually pretty simple
not that i think shreveport is a good idea (b/c i don't), but i just cant see how Texas is a viable option right now
dallas is the evacuation home for many people from southeast texas (houston etc) and i just can't see how moving the game there makes any sense with so many questions around Ike
a decision has tobe made soon, REAL SOON...the game should be played in TS, dome or not at all

Well if you retards would quit pulling for the Cowgirls over the Saints, you wouldn't get so much blowback.
FYI, I would rather bury my balls in a fireant bed than root for the Cowgirls. In my estimation, there's about a 50/50 split on Dallas and Saints fans here.
I know I know, the big gripe against Shreveport is the food. I could name you 16-20 excellent restaurants (chains and local) that would more than fill your need for one or two nights here.

I know Independence Stadium isn't the grand palace of all of college football that is Tiger Stadium. But think of the advantages that us, the fans that would make it to the game, would have with LSU playing there.
There is absolutely no bad seat in the stadium. The way the stands rise, there are no obstuctions, it goes vertical(not unlike the Superdome upper deck), and the end zone seats are right on the end stripe. Unless you have a field pass or tremendous seats in Tiger Stadium, you'll never be as close to our players as you would in Independence.
Now that the recent renovations have made IS an enclosed bowl, it gets very loud. Now 54,000 is nowhere near the intensity of 90,000+, but with the way that the stands are so close to the field it could cause opposing offenses a headache.
Beer is also much cheaper there than in Texas Stadium, if that's an enticement.

North Texas actually has either the 3rd or 4th largest enrollment of all Texas schools - so they would bring some people as well
I've lived here for 11 years. Don't delude yourself about N. Texas fans. Can you say "no shows"?
I live here, would love to travel 20 minutes down the road to see the Tigers, but believe Shreveport is where it ought to be. Only thing in Dallas' favor is the plethora of hotel rooms.
54,000 at I.S. is greater than the 39,773 at Vanderbilt and is only 6000 short of Ole Miss. Plus when LSU plays ArKANSAS in Little Rock it is before 53,727.

Being from West Monroe and having made the drive to Baton Rouge on a regular basis for years, I'd love to see the Tigers in Shreveport. Who knows, maybe we could start playing teams like Texas, A&M, Arkansas and Oklahoma in Shreveport. Some great athletes come out of East Texas AND the Shreveport area and it would be a terrific opportunity to change some minds!
PLUS---it's an easier drive via I-49 for South Louisiana and I-20 for those of us up North.

I may be wrong, but I don't think they would sell beer in TX stadium for a college game like they would in Shreveport.

if it is a LSU home game, they aren't selling beer anywhere the game is played

Are you sure? I went to the La Tech/Miami game in S'port a few years ago and they sold beer.

not an SEC event
the SEC prohibits alcohol sales at their events

shreveport will most likley be out of the question .. due to the fact of having to shelter the people running from the storm.. one of the biggest shelters is next door and it would be hell to pull that off.. and there are just not enough seats IMO
