re: Why not Jordan Jefferson? - This is why

He has to know SOME plays. I would doubt ANY true freshman QB can run a full Gary Crowton playbook (which is probably what you heard about). Let him get out there with a 15-20 play playbook and let's see if he can execute and move the chains and NOT TURN THE BALL OVER.

your reading comprehension sucks.
I didn't say just run 3-4 plays all the time.
I said let JJ run 3-4 plays to spell Lee.

You people are unbelieveable, todays college game is not the simple I-back or read option crap of 15 or 20 years ago. To call JJ stupid is well stupid.

Agreed.
There have been plenty of times that the pass thrown has not matched the route run.

JUST TO MAKE A POINT
FAN Opinion
2008 JJ > LEE
2007 RP > FLYNN
2006 Flynn > JR (#1 Pick)
2005 Flynn > JR
2004 JR > Randal
2003 I still heard Randal > Mauck
I think our coaches know what they are doing.

why is it that our True Frosh is totally clueless on the playbook but Pryor is f'ing starting and seems to be doing fine with his knowledge of their playbook? Maybe its a coaching problem.
We should have signed Pryor.
Seriously, Pryor was being groomed from day 1 on campus. JJ was expected to RS, and we NEEDED to groom the ONLY QBs we had after RP was gone. Yes, it is like putting all your eggs in one basket, or two in this case. But the coaches evaluated that the two QBs that we had could be used in tandem based on the skills of each. The coaches needed to make this decision a long time ago. Who knows how much the pressure of trying to lead the defending NC is on Lee when he knows that Hatch is down. Throw in the booing after he heard all the cheers for last year's team. Lee is facing some of the best D's in the country. Let's keep it all in perspective. He is the best we have, based on the coaches evaluation. JJ has been on the RS shelf. That's why he has not learned enough to be put into such pressure situations, not because he is dumb, or black. The EXPERIENCED QBs on the roster are also in a learning curve, but are ahead of JJ. We are what we thought we were, a team with talent, but lacking depth and experience at key positions.
Remember, Fla lost 4 games with inexperienced players, in spite of a Heisman winner at THE key position.
If I see the RACE Card played again I'll vomit. If this is what some believe, start posting to pull Shep's offer.

That's kind of my point..it's 12 weeks into the season, i don't see how it's that difficult for JJ to have 6-8 plays he's comfortable with, and we can use him 2-3 series a game..it could benefit Lee tremendously to sit out, watch the defense from the sideline, and maybe slow the game down for him
Bingo! I can't understand why he doesn't have a handful of plays for a change of pace package. If this kid was so heralded out of high school not only as a runner, then can't he execute a pass when Crowton eliminates the checks on one side of the field? I mean that is one of the things that the spread is famous for, reducing the number of decisions a QB needs to make.
IMHO, he either isn't putting enough effort into his preparations, or he is just batshit stupid... but then again none of us are sitting in on practice and meetings, so what do we know....

Sarcasm for the poster trying to make the comparison of Pryor and JJ both being Freshmen.
I did say "seriously" right after that statement as well.

I'm guessing we have a i.q./literacy problem... good athlete but not much else.

Is a JL throwing picks better than a JJ not knowing at all what's going on?
Good question. I think JJ at least should have been given a few snaps in a Hatch/Perrilloux role. The coaches were more willing to put in Richard Murphy.

it was 3rd and 7, WHY PASS THE BALL? run it and if you dont get the first down then kick a fricking field goal!!!
Dude you are making too much sense....stop it.
IMO, Crowton and Miles have managed a RS QB totally wrong and are responsible for his poor play.
Third and 17 from our end of the field, score 0-0, please tell me what kind of play can Lee make in that situation that calls for Crowton to run shotgun and throw to Byrd for a 6 yard gain in traffic?
Why? Next thing, Byrd gets plastered, ball intercepted and 7-0. Why? Third and 17 from our own 20. What was the point? That is calling plays that GET a QB in trouble.
You call a stupid play and don't expect an inexperienced QB to make a stupid throw?

Just sayin...

He was crying because he is now irrelevant, along with all the other idiots who makes a living play the race card. A black man is now the leader of the free world and he'll have a hard time spinning why blacks can't get ahead in this country because of all the mean whiteys.
Its people like you that make even the idea of a "race card" illogical. A nobody can name three people who happen to be of a particular race that have difficulty early on acclimating themselves to arguably the most difficult position in all of sports then apply that truth of mental challenge to all other QBs who share their race. A truth that is self-evident because the nobody can name three examples early in the careers of the players. If there is a race card, it must be the two of diamonds. I would much rather be a nobody able to declare self-evident truths backed up by laws and tradition than being known a someone who cries wolf. Imagine the power to take accomplished individuals and not only reduce those them to "accomplishments in spite of their innate deficiencies" but to declare them innate and apply this rule to QBS past, present, and future. I'll take that power over Jesse any day.
Whether you know it or not, you help to keep those "idiots" in business. Congratulations.

your kicker has already missed once from there. It's basically 3rd and long while we KNOW Alabama is playing 8 in the box. You either show confidence in Lee that he can make a throw, which he has done at points in the game, or don't show any confidence in your QB at all and just waste a down. You don't go into a play KNOWING your QB is going to throw an INT.
The only thing I disagree with is the play itslef. Alabama knows that he has been rolling to his right all game. Go left! Just to see what happens. That's just me.
The question that I have isn't about 3rd down in OT, but 2nd. You ran Scott, with 8 in the box. and he gained 5 on 1st down. Then they get cute with a damn trick play and lose 4 yards. RUN THE frickING BALL, with Scott, up the middle! They were not able to consistently stop Scott up the middle all game. They're thin on defense, and you're in OT, so you know they're tired. You punch them in the mouth and, even if they stop Scott from getting the first down, you're looking at 3rd and 5 or less.

I was just told by another one of my LSU collegues, who's dad has some inside info, that the reason Jefferson is not seeing any game time is because he doesn't know the plays. Supposedly, when they huddle he has to defer to the other offensive players for directions.
I believe this was said in regards to J. Russell and Ryan Perrilloux. I see the trend continues.

It looked like Lee checked out of the called play afew times, but there were certainly a few ridiculous calls that came from the sideline.

On the original point of this post, not playing JJ in this game because he "isn't ready" is bullshite. There were several situations where JJ running option > Lee throwing picks. In addition to the picks, Lee had several plays that left you wondering WTF he was thinking (having a clear running lane on 3rd and 3 and throwing the ball out of bounds over the head of a receiver who was covered comes immediately to mind). On that play, JJ gets the 1st "I promise you".
