It’s not a downgrade in conference. The SEC money is far greater than Big 12.
If you are LSU, you offer him the same deal to let his son coach when he retired. He’s a way better coach than Lane Kiffin. If you are willing to pay out money for average, you better damn sure be willing to pay out for premium elite coaching

Self, Kansas IS a basketball blue blood through and through. He would be crazy to leave that for LSU.
Sampson, Houston is probably a top dozen job in college basketball. It's not arguably better than LSU. It is a better job than LSU.

I would love to see Bill Self on LSU's sideline but, as others have mentioned, he has health problems and is weighing on whether to return to KU or not.
