He'd have to get a sizeable raise because I'd find it hard to move away from a place like Boca Raton. That's a retirement dream

I'm not a fan of Kiffin's antics. But damn that man wants to win and works hard at getting the best players/coaches to win. Does that mean he's also going to get sloppy and end up with sanctions? probably. Kiffin is a huge gambler as far as taking players and giving them an opportunity to play and prove themselves. I'm not against that. Sometimes that busts, but other times it can work out quite well.

He basically took a lot of the last chance U kids to jump start his program and from what I can see had a decent year. But damn his personality and antics are a LOT to deal with. I would suggest we just trade head coaches with FAU, but Ogre isn't qualified to coach at FAU.

Lane Kiffen is a very talented coach and an awful human. We may think we are on rock bottom now and we are willing to make sacrifices to restore our rightful place as a championship caliber program, but I would not go "win at all costs", which is what Kiffen represents.
One thing I agree on: O has to go.

Kiffen is the reason LSU is in the mess we are in

1) He personally talked to Alleva, and said 'we comin', so that his friend would get the HC job.

2) He sabotaged Canada by being in O's ear about what he should do about the offense

3) He almost caused us to lose our 2 QB recruits by telling O to offer Tua

4) And let us not forget the recruiting shenanigans that he (and O) have pulled against LSU in the past, Janzen, etc

+) And a HUGE flag in that Saban ran him off, after getting to the playoffs. Then won it all the next year, without him

Hes poison.

I would pick him over orgeron any day of the week. However If LSU gets serious about winning they can do better. I like the guy and think he is highly entertaining but he is still not someone you can trust to run a big program.

Football is entertainment. That's really all it is. Joey Freshwater at L.S.U. would be entertaining and happens to be a very good coach as well.

Wasn't ever the biggest Kiffin supporter, and even though he isn't 1st on my list, OP sure did a good job of convincing me that he is. I'm in. Especially with the dipshit head coach we have now, our standards aren't what it used to be.

Gotta get past the Bible thumping admins at LSU. Same reason Freeze wasn’t an option as OC. We have a segment of the decision makers that are holier than thou.

Kiffin is probably the most unlikeable prick in coaching. Don't understand why anyone would want that guy representing LSU no matter how many points he can score with talent he doesn't assemble.

He has 1 good year of being a head coach.
He is 51-39 as head coach with 1-2 bowl record. this notion that kiffin us this good HEAD COACH isn't been proven.
he is good OC and playcaller.

we had the easiest schedule in over 2 decades.
we played 1 p5 program with less than 4 losses and we still lost 4 games.

Kiffin would be a home run hire. Alleva does not have the balls to make the hire.

He's never had a losing season as a head coach, which includes a top 10 finish in the AP while at USC. Obviously, he also turned FAU around quickly.

There's enough evidence to call him a good head coach, considering the relatively small sample size.

He was bad at Oakland

wasn't good at USC

he was 8-5(unranked),10-2(good season),7-6(Started the season #1 in the country),3-2 and was fired.

ok he has is all of 2 good seasons. He has never in his life proven he can sustain any kind of success as a head coach. I can't label you a good coach if you've never had 2 good seasons back to back

he has never had 2 9 win seasons back to back. in his entire HC career he has 2 seasons with more than 8 wins. thats no a HR hire. being Bama's oc doesnt just erase him being a laughing stock HC.

No...Let's be realistic here guys. Freshwater will not be LSU's next coach. LSU should hire Dave Aranda as Head coach, make Corey Raymond Defensive Coordinator and hire a top flight Offensive coordinator that runs the offense. This is LSU's best chance of success in the next 4 years.

This would obviously be a "last stop" sort of job for Aranda and would literally be the exact opposite of the last 2 coaches we've had here. A smart as frick football coach that can lockdown the defensive side of the football for years to come AND will not be the punch line of jokes from the rest of the country.
