Yes on the helmet numbers. Maybe tweaked a bit to modernize.

Well, I was at that game and since then to now I have never heard that move was anything great.

Football was the same game then but a little more violent because of the rules (Almost no late hits, a Helmet was a tackling tool, chop blocks were legal, etc).

Sports nutrition and weight training have advanced tremendously. Changes have occurred without a doubt.

It was a very good move against an All American DB for NOTRE DAME, which means that he was hyped as god-like at that time. And Ellis really was good.
And that move iced the game and topped off a huge day for Hamilton against a higher ranked and favored team on Nat'l TV.
The lead in, which, in turn overhyped the "move" was excessive, as well.
But no doubt it was a huge win for LSu and huge game for Andy H.

Being called the 'greatest' at anything is usually an exageration, and Andy's route was the same.
The reason why it was considered very good was that Andy waited and waited with his head turned inside until Ellis 'bought it', and Andy broke outside in the clear. Another element was probably because Ellis was considered the #1 DB in college football that year, and Andy made him look ordinary. Andy was a great receiver and played for Chiefs until he retired to become a pastor (he was my pastor) until be went to China as a missionary. Great Tiger !!

The difference between levels of athletes back then to now is hilarious.

1. That’s not why. The reason it’s considered an all time great move is because fans and sportswriters have no idea.
2. That kid would have gotten substantial playing time on the 2019 team. He was great!
3. That move wasn’t one of his top 10 that year, much less an all time great move. It was a sweet move, though.
4. That play shows the difference in pass interference rules. Today’s DB’s would have hooked and clawed him and stayed with him. Back then if a DB did ANY of that he was called for it.
