when you have all 11 guys within five yards of the line of scrimmage, that play may get blown up for a loss.

He has used them on a couple of occassions, particularly with Hill.

x 1000000000 I could not agree with this more.
And with how Bama plays, you should run WR and RB screens... outside the hashes and up the middle. No doubt.
Bama will do it to us, book-it. They did it to Tennessee about 7 times (based on memory of how the game went).

you run it out of different sets. When you call screens is just as important as how the defense defends them.

that's why you dont run it out of a goaline formation.

Bama does a really good job of running screens.

Apparently he is eating the ice cream.

The #1 reason to run screens is that your best playmakers on offense are your backs. And the few times they've run them the OL has executed well. Two or three screens per game sure slows down a good pash rushing team.

I think we will see them against Bama. I think Stud and Les saw how effective they can be and decided to hold back on them at Tex A&M so as to not give Nicky a ton of film on the scheme.

My alternative answer is an RB screen killed Stud's father and raped his mother.

Cuz that's what they think we will do?

I am more worried about LSU covering the flat routes.

Stud is not calling the play.

Miles' philosophy is to do a few things really well and constantly, then throw a change up every now and then to get a big play. He doesn't try to get the defense off balance; he tries to get them leaning.

HB screens work too well and have now been replaced by quick slants

Why was a sub-par o-line coach promoted to O-Coodinator?

RB Screens can be slow developing plays. A good LB or DE can read it and stuff it. The key is to catch the defense blitzing.
Also, we've had trouble executing these plays in the past.
I do like the dump off pass to Hill on 3rd and longs. He comes awfully close to picking up the first down, sometimes he gets it.
Maybe Miles is saving the RB screen for Bama?
