I would not risk his getting injured. dumb idea, in my opinion.

too risky. put someone else in there who does not even start for the defense. there are a few fast freshmen. some of them must be able to catch the ball.

This. He is out there on every single play. Offense, defense, special teams. The kid is a true soph.

Wonder if Shep gets a chance to return punts?

If we stay like this the whole year I am not sure if we break one.

Shep may start returning punts but TM7 catches the ball. Thats what we need.

returning punts? I get that he's a great tackler/athlete, but who ever said he could dodge tacklers? Seems to me Mo Claiborne or another worthy individ. might be a more appropriate choice.

because hes really good at it, Tyrann is one of the most elusive players on the team, he just havent had the chance to show it yet. The only player I might want back there other than him is Reuben.

Because he's confident and he's a play maker with speed. There has been almost zero blocking going on with punt returns. My guess is that if he gets a couple of blocks here and there, he'll do something big just like he does in every other aspect of the game.

Someone else needs to do returns Gore or now maybe Shep.
Gore put the ball on the ground vs NW State. he won't be returning punts. Les doesn't want to give up cheap scores on short field with this tenacious defense he has.

The return blocking has sucked. TM will house one if they give him a freaking chance.

Exaggerating a bit, but I hope you get where i'm coming from. I think Shep is returning punts at WVU.

This is a good point too. He hasn't had room to make a return, for the most part.

why does it matter if it's offense or defense? The offense will go on the field right after a return. We NEED sure hands in there, first and foremost.

No coach agrees with this. Way too many front line players have returned punts in the past. Just last year, Patrick Peterson did pretty well with it. Then there was this guy at Bama. One at Michigan....

I don't like TM returning punts. Never have. Too small, and LSU has better offensive players.

I get the whole #7 wearing thing, the D back and team leader succession as PP's next-in-line, but he isn't PP at returning, and I don't want him hurt doing it..

Hoping for a player personnel change in this position soon.

A lot has to do with risk, and with a player like him and with his size in the secondary, we should probably have someone else returning punts. He is the glue to our defense. Peterson wasn't. Sheppard was.
