At what point in time has Miles ever demonstrated that he is afraid of anything? When he went for it on fourth down 4 times in a row against Florida? When he acquired the monikers "Mad Hatter" and "Riverboat Gambler?"
He's afraid of being blamed if he makes changes and loses because he made changes. That's understandable.
A much more likely explanation is that there have been times when for whatever reason, whether valid or not, Miles thought that his options where limited (for example, his best quarterback either injured or unable to execute). Maybe instead of stubborn, he thought he was utilizing his best option and didn't give a flip what other people would think or say about him. He was simply trying his best to win.
TL/DR: Rather than stubborn or afraid, Miles was more likely is trying his best to win and didn't care what he looked like in the process.

As much as I hate to say it, Kiffin at Bama is the perfect example. He modernized Sabans team while still focusing on the run and getting the most out of his team. Saban was smart enough to adapt. It's really that simple, Les is just extremely stubborn and stuck in his ways.
don't hate on the truth
Nick saw in Lane just what he wanted that he knew he couldn't bring to the team - so he went out and got Lane. Many laughed when he hired Lane but no one is laughing now.
Les just moved all his staff to the side-lines during the game - we go 15-0 - no one will be laughing.
When did Les really start the change with Cam - Texas Bowl and the hiring of the Auburn WR coach Craig. What is going to happen should be that Les backs off Cam and Craig to allow them to get a real game plan ready that is not 70% run.
We can win 9 games this year like last year with 70% run but we can't win it all and we can't be great. Don't think for a minute Les doesn't want to be great.
What I think we will see quickly is check offs on the safety play of Wisky. I also think some of the check will be a blind play action with LF7 and BH. All run until BH pulls it back from LF7 or a fake pitch back to LF7.
With the 2 wide outs we have there is no reason at all from the get this season not to expose CB's to the talent of both of these dudes. Any average QB can make the throws needed but I think with BH on a role out with the option to run the free air to the sideline we should see this often.
I agree with all Baton Rouge that if Cam and Les run into 9 in the box all season that this should be the last season of Les Miles. It has nothing to do with W/L record. It has everything to do with playing balanced football and taking advantage of what a cheating D is giving you by over playing the run.
It really is that simple and in my heart I don't think Les is that stupid to go into this season with 3 QB's on the sideline that should be able -all of them- to play real basic balanced football.

It wasn't that long ago that lsu had a qb throw for over 3000 yards, a 1000 yard rusher, and two 1000 yard receivers. We have the talent to put up similar numbers this year. Maybe a little heavier on the run considering our two lead backs. But there's no excuse for this offense not to be a top three offense in the sec this year.

None of that matters to the mind numb snowflakes in the LSU fanbase. They are living in a mental daisy chain of stupidity.

doesn't have to be the spread. Just utilize dinks dunks, screens, 3 WR sets, and the TE. Anotherwords, run more than 5 predictable passing plays

OMG some of you are just flat out stupid

Just utilize
dinks dunks,- LF7 was 4th SEC (0.1ypg less than K Drake)
screens- accuracy problems and LSU can't seem to sell a screen since Jimbo left
3 WR sets,- Most utilized set in '15
and the TE- No answer except LSU needs one that doesn't signal pass when inserted.

You think the LSU tree has 5 routes

Those of you wanting change ignore plays that were not successful. The offense is not what you think it is. You simply ignore the aspects of it that do not fit your narrative.

He won't go out and hire an spread out OC.
We don't need a spread OC and I don't want one. We need to remain a run-first team but be less predictable, use some misdirection, complete some short to intermediate passes and use the middle of the field.

Piss on a spread... how about just a functional offense that is at least somewhat unpredictable and tries to put the defense at a disadvantage. A team can have a superb running game and still achieve this.
agree... although i would like to try every once in while to get the ball to one of our world class athletes in space... just to mix things up a bit..

Poor Lacour-----still suffering from Saban abandonment syndrome.
