Why is Les Miles hesitant to change the offense?

Do you buy the media's criticism of Miles? He won't go out and hire an spread out OC. We know LSU struggles in games that stretch their comfort zone. I don't think it's fair to blame Harris either.

The reason this year may be that he has one of the best college running backs in a generation on his team.

There are a lot of talented spread teams out there. They still lose to Bama. They still lose a lot of games.

The spread isn't to the do all end all. We shut down spread offenses all the time.

Piss on a spread... how about just a functional offense that is at least somewhat unpredictable and tries to put the defense at a disadvantage. A team can have a superb running game and still achieve this.

You ever met an older fella that is just stuck in his ways no matter what everything else points to? Just the way he is.

Eta: I've said this several times; we don't need a spread. Most realistic fans don't want a full blown spread offense. We just need balanced, decent qb play and un predictable play calls. As much as I hate to say it, Kiffin at Bama is the perfect example. He modernized Sabans team while still focusing on the run and getting the most out of his team. Saban was smart enough to adapt. It's really that simple, Les is just extremely stubborn and stuck in his ways.

It's not even about hiring a spread OC

It's about him staying out of the way of the OC

That's what I have heard from the media.

It doesn't matter who Miles hires as OC

And they aren't saying LSU needs to throw a ton, but LSU does need to have a better passing game

It's nice to have balance and options.

Oklahoma and Ohio St had very nice offensive success vs Bama's D. Clemson came on strong in their game.

frick a spread. Just give me an offense that can occasionally make a defense pay for playing 9 men in the box in an attempt to stop our all world running back.

FYI. The offense has changed atleast 3 times since Miles has been here. Anyone with an average football IQ can see this.

Hesitant?

I don't even think the thought of changing things up have crossed his mind.

I love LSUs offense. It's just needs some tweaking. Like that read option that worked against Texas Tech. Some screens, quick routes, and use of the tight ends more. Then you got yourself a college offense that works real well.

I want both..

Baylor was around top in the nation in rushing and was able to develop nearly 3 talented college QBs..

I'd love to see LSU keep a great rushing attack while still having a tremendous passing game.

Surely LSU can get the talent to have both.

I like what Herman does an OC.. the same guy who took it to Bama's D and even beat FSU at Houston.. and he personally recruited Brandon Harris to Ohio St.. so clearly Harris has the talent to be successful. He has done wonders with Greg Ward Jr, including beating FSU. I believe LSU can have more success at the QB position.

I don't want to change the offense, I just want to tweek it to our advantage. Use our backs in the passing game and take advantage of our WR's athleticism with a intermiadiate passing game.

Because he doesn't believe that recently enrolled alters, unemployed off shore hands, frat boys and chem plant workers know more football than he does.

Thanks for playing alterboy.
