The problem right now is that Lee sometimes is pressing, and why is that? He's put in situations completely out of his hands. Mainly JJ and Miles/Crowton's insistence on playing him screws up any rhythm Lee gets and he starts to think too much later in games.

this is something that can be fixed and should be able to fix in practice, doesn't have to be in a game to know how to through off the correct foot. You're analyzing it way to much.

I agree.

For shite's sake, UT was his first action in almost a year and he's thrown in with JJ handing them 7 points. What do you expect of the kid?
Same thing I expected from JJ to start the season. . .improvement.

In my mind, Lee looked the same with UTk as he did in 2008. JJ just looked so much worse than 2008.

Lee looked like a man vs. UF. . .then looked like Lee 08 against McNeese. . .but so did everyone else.

quote:

but reality is that you are critiquing him 100x harder than JJ
How so? by saying that JJ should not see the field for the rest of the season, and that Lee has a back-foot issue?

That is critiquing Lee 100X harder?

Should I be calling JJ a unrepentant child rapist? Would that be fair to my "Lee still has a back-foot issue" criticism?

It isn't going to be corrected at LSU. JJ still requires much more time than most QB's and that hasn't been corrected. Something we have to live with.

Think we are over analyzing this way too much. I don't care really as long as Lee plays like he has been.

Again, I meant this to be a pretty casual thread.

Never said it was a major issue right now.

My biggest worry about Lee is the same I had about JJ, and that is losing confidence. LSU waited too late in '08 to spell Lee IMO, and has done the same with JJ this year. Don't mind mistakes as long as the upside can cover, but losing confidence will destroy this offense. JJ has totally lost it as Lee did in '08. My guess is that a few bad outings will put Lee there again.

He promised Miles that he would keep the QB competition fair?

I didn't know there was a yardage deduction for artistic impression. I guess I didn't see the judges at the scorer's table on the sideline.

Or, in short, who the hell cares?

Just as long as he gets it there. It only matters where it goes.

That was one of the major points I was making in my thread on both QB's after the UTk game. JJ is shot between the ears.

Lee was, but seems to have overcome. . .but we don't KNOW that he has.

We won't know until something bad happens.

A pick-6 vs. McNeese might have been just what the doctor ordered. . .as wierd as that sounds.

rewatch the games.

I am convinced he would be near 95% completion percentage if he set. When he sets, he has been an assassin. Every time there is a bad throw, that is the reason.

That is the only answer that could really scare me.

You don't know what you're talking about. The 4th and 14 against Tenn was thrown off the right foot sliding sideways. Unlike JJ, who does have step into just about everything and has a slow two count motion, JL can actually use his arm and wrist almost completely on short stuff and only needs his legs on really long throws. It's just style. What you can do on a practice field and what you have to do when you play are different.

And, no, he won't get to 95% by correcting this "fault." Right now is not a time to start screwing with the kid's mechanics. You'll wind up with a head case like JJ. The less our brain trust works with JL the better off we'll be. His dad is a football coach. Think maybe he'd tell JL if he thought it was that important?

meh, roaad, I just watched a slew of NFL games where NFL QBs are throwing all sorts of passes off of their back feet.

Not that I don't agree, it scares me every time I see him try to arm it in there off the wrong foot.....but, it's not getting fixed, and I'd rather live with the lively arm QB than the non throwing non running QB.

It's just inconsistant play. Which could be on the coaches. Just seems like both qbs take plays off.

it's typically 1 of 2 things...pressure from the D, or he sees the receiver open and pulls the trigger too quick, relying on his arm strength to get the ball there. Although some shorter, screens and touch throws aren't made with a big step into the ball anyway.

I agree in a general sense.

But he often throws falling away from pressure that isn't there.

I wonder if he still has the mindset that last year's OL is playing?

mechanics didn't screw up JJ. He throws the ball the same.
