Yeah. . .that was from the thread from the preseason.

I conceded that one.

Pre-season optimism.

The J-Lee being done had to do with mental state. I said after UNC that JJ was probably more of a headcase at that point.

ETA- That is the first I have seen of that post, btw.

After the Tenn game Road knocked J. Lee and said he looked pretty bad.
I also said JJ looked infinitely worse.

After UTk, I also said Lee should be getting the majority of the snaps.

After UF, I said JJ should not even be playing.

But I'm the "JJ Lover" per DP40.

looks way to much into Lee throwing off his back foot.
It is a minor issue.

The point was why is he still doing it? Seems as though somebody would have worked on it.

Well, and I assumed JJ would get better.

Maybe Jefferson should start trying to throw off his back foot

seem to be the consensus in an earlier thread that TT was supposed to break the route in and didn't.

Lee will throw some INT's. Certainly not to the TD/INT ratio JJ is at right now. I will take an occasional bad throw in exchange for an offense that actually moves and does something. He is far from a perfected work, but he is by far the best we have. I like the upgrade.

I agree with all of this.

My point is the tendencies he has. . .that he also had in 2008. It isn't a major problem right now, obviously, but it could be later.

I thought, after UTk, that it was going to hurt us in the UF game, but he was pretty sound that game (I think I remember a couple floaters from his back foot, but nothing bad).

He still makes a mistake. I highly doubt anyone would urge him to jump into the NFL draft next year. I suppose he will have a bad game or two before the year is over but still, he moves the chains and moves the offense. Its a trade off I am willing to take. The offense looks infinitely more confident now.

I don't think that is even debateable.

My question was why is he still doing it, and what do you think needs to be done.

So far I have gotten 2 answers:

1) He needs to play more to work through it

2) JJ Lover, Lee Hater!!!!!1111!!!11!!1111!One

He has no QB coach, and little can be done. Playing more would not have hurt to establish timing though. Should have been happening all year long.

ALl other nonsense aside, I think it is just a focus thing road, I know some guys learn to not do it and then are fine. Some people it is just natural to them and not matter how much coaching, if they are not keeping it in their mind they revert back to it. I think thats why you see it *at times*. It needs to be stressed more, but I think it will come with snaps. Something he for sure needs to get more of.

Got a neighborhood kid that can flat sling it, so I tend to work with him a bit when the kids are out tossing the ball around. After coaching over and over the last year or so, if it is just him and his friends out their and not a dad, he reverts back to it. He relaxes and just doesn't think about it. Not that it matters when playing around, but all it takes is a dad to walk out and BOOM PERFECT FORM! lol.

Or it may be NOTHING like this, just what I am reminded of when I read the topic.

Do you think he knows he is doing it?

If he knows, he should be working on it himself. . .hence the "feet to fire" thing.

I too have noticed jl still throwing off his back foot. It will get him in trouble sooner or later if he keeps doing it. Let's just hope he learns to fix it fast.

Look, even Brett Favre and Elway threw off their back foot at times. Sometimes it worked, others they got burned.

The problem right now is that Lee sometimes is pressing, and why is that? He's put in situations completely out of his hands. Mainly JJ and Miles/Crowton's insistence on playing him screws up any rhythm Lee gets and he starts to think too much later in games.

For shite's sake, UT was his first action in almost a year and he's thrown in with JJ handing them 7 points. What do you expect of the kid?

Again, the kid has made all the throws, and has had a few bad ones, but reality is that you are critiquing him 100x harder than JJ that is playing utterly pathetic right now.

Its habit. When he gets into certain situations and he is not in correct form he still reverts back to it. Doesn't happen on every throw, so I can live with it. Not a big deal yet.
