Why I like Spencer Ware as the starter

I don't think Ware is the best running back we have, he might only be the fourth best, but you shouldn't look at it that way. Ware's value to this team as the starter is not as a yard gainer or a scorer. Ware, as we've heard Gary Danielson say a million times, is "a violent runner." Les uses Ware to punish defenses, get them tired and sore and timid. Then once the opposition defense is softened up, Les puts in one of the other three finish the job. It is a great strategy if you have the players to do it, and LSU does.

Really? I've never heard of this thinking...

I think Hilliard is the same kind of runner, but I know what you're saying and I agree.

I think Hilliard is probably the best at violently running over people but ware is okay at doing that as well. I like how the run game has just worn out defenses so yea I'll agree that the formula we are using right now works. Why not keep with it.

I'd rather someone who picks up first downs & gets yards & punishes ppl. Give me Hilliard

I think hillard just as hard of a runner as ware.

I agree. Ware seems to have faded a bit down the stretch.

He hasn't been a violent runner since his suspension. Ware is a good back, but something has gotten into his head and he is not running with any of the confidence he had earlier in the year.

They're all outstanding. I love Ware's violent style, Hilliards bruising power, Blues vision and speed, and Fords PUNISHING speed.

Don't be such a douche. Who would you rather have fresh in the fourth quarter, Ware or Hilliard?

Hillard

so we have to sacrifice the first half with ware getting 2 yards a pop to "open up" the defense for all of the easily tired wimpy RBs. got it.

It will be nice for all of our guys to get this time off and heal up. No real injuries but this time of year there's always little nagging ones.

Hilliard in a landslide. Have you not watched the last several weeks?

Starting is so overrated, who gives a dam if you go in the game on the first play, only to ride the pine and fist bump the studs as they come off field?
Posted on 12/4/11 at 4:46 pm to HonoraryCoonass
Ware needs to lose weight or something to regain his starting role. Running violently is nice and all, but he's barely averaging 4 ypc. Hilliard, Blue, and Ford are all running the ball better.

It's hard to justify Hilliard sitting on the bench anytime, however IMO, there is no good argument with the rotation being used.
