JJ27-

You make a decent argument, you supported it with some facts, but Harvin is much much better than Debose and to say that there isnt much drop off is an insult to Harvin.

Come on man, be reasonable. Debose is very similar to Harvin, but he's not near that talent level yet. Could he be eventually, sure. But he has a long way to go. Your trying to convince me that a Freshman is better than a 1st rd. draft pick. By your logic, Debose would get drafted in the 1st round straight out of HS. Debose will play, he will get some touches and will probably make some plays, but not near as many as Harvin would have or did. At least not this year. Start your Debose/Harvin comparison next year after you have something to compare.

Florida is so loaded, they might be able to hang with USC. I mean since they're the only pro football team in SoCal.

Ron Brooks was a freshman last year that mostly played on special teams, the coaches like him enough to make the move on Coleman. Look for Brookes to take over the Special teams duty, if they use the two man kickoff return formation, it could be Brookes and Holiday. Punt returns could either Chad Jones or Ron B. That should say a little about his skills as a playmaker. Like I said earlier, Brookes is a faster safety while Coleman is a faster linebacker. With Peterson on one corner and Jai, who looks like he might have beat out C. Hawkins on the other, this could be the best defensive backfield in the nation. Peterson is good enough to play man with anyone which frees up one of the safeties to make plays.

My two pesos.
a) I wouldn't judge UF's offense by the Tenn game last year for two reasons: 1) Tenn gave them some short fields to work with and 2) UF's offense seemed to jell about the 2nd half before they played us.
b) What I do think can happen is that it seems to take Meyer 4-5 games to really get the chemistry right on his offense. If losing Harvin and Murphy messes up their chemistry, then they may not have it fully figured out by the time they play us. I don’t think Debose in ’09 is going to be a drop-in replacement for Harvin from ’08.
c) Both Bama and OU did well against them until the 4th Qtr. UF basically owned both in the 4th Qtr. We need to win the 4th Qtr as we did in ’07.
d) Chavis ought to know some D by now. And he ought to have some payback in mind after the UF-Tenn debacle in ’07. He will have the athletes to stop UF. Just needs to put it all together.
e) If Peterson and Hawkins/Eugene can play man on UF’s receivers then that gives Chavis lots of options. And if we’ll make TS the loudest, most raucous place on planet earth, then our DL should have an advantage coming off the ball (and Alem doesn’t need an advantage anyway).

Easy there. Lets not go overboard. Its not like Tenn. is a team full of plugs. They have a lot of good players on their D. One of the best in the country in Berry. They might not be quite as talented as us, but they have plenty enough to be competive and win

Yes, Chavis had talent had UT, but it's said when he got to LSU he was like a kid in a candy store. He was amazed at the talent he had.

Also, I'm getting sick and tired of this Tebow revenge thing. Excuse me but wasn't it LAST YEAR WHEN FLORIDA RAN UP THE SCORE ON US TO WIN 51-21?! Players don't forget that sort of thing.

Here's why we have a shot:

a) Tiger Stadium. At night.

Get ready. October 10.

LSU secondary -- The Tigers were deep enough in the secondary that first-year defensive coordinator John Chavis was able to move Harry Coleman from safety to outside linebacker this spring. One of the reasons Chavis could do that was Ron Brooks' development at safety. The former cornerback was everywhere the ball was this spring. Chavis is anxious to see his safety tandem of Chad Jones and Brooks in action. Sophomore cornerback Patrick Peterson appears poised to take that step toward All-SEC status, and Chris Hawkins and Jai Eugene are two more cornerbacks who could start for a lot of teams.

Demps looked real good against LSU in the swamp last year and I think could have scored maybe more if Harvin wasn't there. Still, there'll be a drop off, but not huge. Our def will be lights out. I see a few turnovers, or lack there of, determining the winner in this game.

The LSU/UF game has been a great series, and one I can rarely predict. I knew UF would beat LSU in '97 and '07, and knew the opposite in'03 and last year (swamp).

The reason UF's offense jelled in the 2nd half before the LSU game is because Carl Johnson replaced the left guard. The OL played lights outs with him in from then on. He's back and it looks pretty sure our OL will be better this yr.

Seems a lotta Gator fans are looking for charter buses from NO for the game. Any suggestions?

as long as they have tebow it will always be a tough game he makes everyone else around him better.

Dude... I pity the poor kid that has to fill Tebow's cleats next year.
