Last year -
OL
Dellinger at C, Cam Wire starting, Campbell first start ever.

This was basically a disaster, resulting in JD running for his life and praying the snap would come in his viscinity.

QB
JD in a new system, with guys like Kayshon in his ear, pouting and generally adding lots of negative noise.

WR
We were force feeding Kayshon in this game thinking he was something else. In hindsight, we were pushing the ball to a guy that was our 3rd or 4th best WR. Major negative noise guy as well.

TE
Taylor in first game, different guy now. Some of the backups concern me with lack of experience still.

RB
We had tons of uncertainty and could not run the ball. Now we have experience and a plethora of weapons.

Offense is just night and day from game 1 last year.

Special Teams -
one of worst units in college football to start the year.

D-
LB
No harold perkins in game one and we thought Mike Jones was our best LB somehow. Speights, Perk, Penn - much different story.

DL
got no pressure on travis LY, not convinced that will change but at worst we are the same.

CB’s
Same unknowns as last year, but at least you are working with safeties who are calling out the defense who have experience and talent.

Safeties
brand new to BK last year, now the vets of the D.

FSU, practice game before we played them last year. We were a band of misfits playing for the first time.

It’s not only that we were so improved from start to finish last year, in relation to FSU it’s more so that we learned our personal from game 1 to game 4 or so. Drastically different….

I don’t know how much they have changed, but can’t imagine a team that had a bigger advantage than the FSU team that played that LSU scenario last year. So much was in their favor, which gives me reason to feel optimistic.

Well said. I'd add to tes we have more then 1, and variability at the position depending on situations. Won't have to use wr as a blocking te this yr.

And I think we got lot of pressure on Travis. He eluded it and made plays.

I think I just went from pessimistic to optimistic. Seriously.

Does Florida State have anyone serving a suspension for this game? Or is anyone out with an injury?

On this, I think there were still significant communication issues in this group to start the season and well into it. That got much better by the second half of the season. Multiple bust plays last season were a direct result of this and I think some of our skepticism about the DBs may be related to this. This game should answer a lot of questions about that group.

I love the optimism. Only thing I will add for optimism is we weren’t just bad in the beginning with Special Teams. We were 127th of 131. With Aaron Anderson alone, that number should be way better.

We can rationalize all we want to but it comes down to three things. 1. Can we score more points than them. 2. Can we get a pass rush. 3 will our secondary hold up.

Number 2 and 3 are the keys.

2 and 3 don’t matter if we can do 1.
