I have been going to games since the 70s and the 1908 flag always flew with the 58 and then in this century it disappeared

Well that’s because these are just your opinions. Why are retroactive champions bs? Maybe they are just trying to fix a previous wrong. If the other schools accept this, why shouldn’t we? As far as conference strength or team strength, that’s all subjective and usually only decided by playing against each other. Anyone around before the playoffs can give you examples of teams “winning” national championships (BYU for example). In fact, there were up to 10 different groups that I know of declaring teams as champions in those days. Do you think other schools are giving back Championships? Holier than thou attitudes mean nothing, especially when your team went undefeated and obviously got screwed. At least they tried to correct it, even if you choose not to acknowledge it.

I'm torn.
If legit, we should've claimed it long ago...but now, after the post above aways. I think I remember a smaller flag flying beneath the lone '58 flag in the South End Zone, back in the early 80s. Like White/pale background, fringed (maybe tattered) edges, with dark (purple? Navy?) Numbers...did it say 1908?
I guess I'm not opposed to retro titles that are legit. If there is no other offical champ in 1908, and there is an official crowning of LSU by an official organization, I have no qualms with recognizing it.
As long as we don't make up shite to support a fake title. Leave that to the pathetics.

I have been a supporter for many years as to the acknowledgement of the 1908 team...claim it LSU!!!
