Why doesn't LSU use speed to run to the edge vs between tackles at goal line?

When were 3rd and goal from the 2, we ran it run up the gut again
the left pylon was there for a one on one footrace...
Help me understand the coaches thinking not using our speed to the edge when the box is loaded in goal situations or 4th down situations?
Most of our big runs yesterday were outside the TE...

Or throw it up to our 6’7 freshman TE

Best Oline in LSU history except it’s not.

Has there been any interview or commentary on this OL from guys like:
Whitworth
Faneca
McClure
Niswanger etc?

If I could paste images, I sent 7 runs to my dad where williams and Jackson get the ball, hop behind an lineman, and get nothing. On each play, all 5 lineman have their guy blocked up perfectly, and there's 2 outside huge angles if they would just see it.
Both have this horrible tendency of hopping straight, this slows them to a snails pace, and is why they both get truck stick every damn plan.
Compare that to parish or Sampson for ole miss, tenn. Similar spread sets, but they hit it with speed... similar to Durham attacking with speed. Oline blocked great yesterday in the run, Williams and Jackson have to see these holes.
I didn't go look at the first game, but yesterday my gosh there was so many massive holes.

Jackson for sure doesn't see the hole.

Need to protect Nuss. So put Ricky in there and run RPO in goal line or short yardage situation. So many options besides up the middle. So damn predictable.

Why doesn't LSU use speed to run to the edge

That’s a possibility but that can easily be defended if we don’t sell the run up the middle. You need two backs to pull that off. And if you use two backs there will be LB committed to spying the back to the weak side which is where a toss after a fake hand off to the dive back.
IMO a better option is to spread them out 11 formation and look for the weak spot pre snap. Triple option for the QB.

Much more difficult to run parallel at the goaline than it is in the middle of the field. At the goal line, Safeties are at 4-5 yards off the LOS whereas at midfield they tend to be 9-12.
