Why doesn't chavis execute a defence like....

The jets? We have all the weapons. Good coaches don't always force the players to their scheme, but create a scheme around their weapons
not a chavis hater, and the same philosophy should be used with the offense. But don't you think he should mix things up and not follow crowtons mind set?
Opinions?

We have the lockdown CB, that's about it. To compare out DL and LB units to the Jets is laughable at best.
Having said that, Rex Ryan's book on coaching an attacking defense is my favorite football book. Would love to see some of his tactics applied, but it's not Chavis' style and he's been doing it this way for ages so I wouldn't expect a change.

damn it was like 5:00 in the a.m. From a phone, Grammar Is the best y'all can come up with?
Also I wasn't comparing the d line and lbs, just but maybe if we attempted to put a little extra effort into the pass rush we would be a little more comparable

Why don't we scheme like the Jets?
Because we don't have 11 NFL starters on defense.
Because we don't have 11 NFL starters on defense.

A pee wee team can mimick an offense... Don't have to necessarily have NFL atheletes and they arnt playing against professional players for that matter
.... And as far as the saints or colts comment... I'm sure an attempt at their play style couldn't be much worse than crowtons blue book...
Why is this such a hard subject to follow? I'm sorry guys, just proceed with the miles bashing and qb threads... You guys are sure to keep it interesting that way

1. Chavis' base defense is what?
2. Rex Ryan's base defense is what?
3. We DO NOT have the personnel necessary to run Rex Ryan's defense.

My point exactly.
And sorry, but a pee wee team cannot mimick an NFL offense. Oh they can get in pro formations maybe, but that will be about the extent of it.

RBWilliams8,
Couple of things. You mention that a peewee team can mimic a team’s offensive/defensive schemes. While a peewee team could in fact line-up in the same formations as the Jet’s defense, it’s so difficult to explain how complicated this defense is. People think Rex Ryan is just some fat, arrogant animal who just lets the dogs loose 24/7. In reality it’s easily the most complicated defense in the NFL.
There are so many bango and tango blitz packages for the front 7 and pattern reading in the secondary that it requires guys who are simply elite technicians at their position. When you have a DE matched on a RB out of the backfield he has to do everything perfect to be able to negate this offensive advantage; this is what is so tremendous about watching the Jets. They are defensive poetry in motion.
The truth is that your base 4-3 defense (or you can call ours a 4-2-5 if you want but it’s not) is MUCH easier to adapt and tweak to less technically sound players. The reads and keys and packages are so much simpler and it’s why Chavis has been using it for so long. I would like for Chavis to get a little more exotic and intricate with his blitzes (although first and foremost I’d like for him to work on the timing more than anything) but a move to a defense as complicated as Rex’s in college would be a disaster.

Why can't we have the Colts offense and the Jets defense?!!!

I think the more appropriate question would be why doesn't he run a defense like the Saints. The strength of Greg Williams D is the backfield, should be the same for LSU this season.
Read an interesting quote by GW a couple weeks ago saying that in the new NFL (more passing), you have to build your defense from the outside in.
