Bond beat us 80-83. Bogalusa’s Orlando Lundie beat us in 84. We finally ended their streak in 85 against Don Smith. After that, they only beat us twice (90 & 91) until they were gifted one in 99. They would not win again until Dak came in here and beat us in 2014.

I remember that night vividly. The dawn of the golden era of LSU football. Also, a time when Tiger Stadium was a rowdy, rollicking concrete cauldron of intimidation and passion, not a temporary staging area for dilletantes en route from their tailgates to their couches. Note that LSU was only 4-3 when the game was played, but the stadium was deafening throughout, even after LSU fell behind by double digits. The difference between the Tiger Stadium in that video and the version we see today is striking.

He ran the bone better than Jamelle at OU or anyone bama ever had. He always knew where his pitch back was at all times and he often pitched without looking.

Back when the stadium remained full after halftime.

It was uncanny. 1982 an MSU team quarterbacked by John Bond, who had lost 6 games in a row shocked a 7-0-1 Tiger team on national TV on a crisp November afternoon.

In the early 90s, I rented a car to Dana Moore, who kicked the game winner against LSU in 1982. He absolutely hated LSU because they didn’t recruit him despite the fact that he grew up in BR. He said that was the greatest moment of his life.

This was a GREAT night in Tiger Stadium. One of the Loudest games ever (‘97 UF, ‘00 Tenn). It was prob the best State team to ever come into BR. Jackie Sherrill on the sidelines. OT. Toefield went off!
