Is Curne playing LG if Mubenga is out? They probably need him helping Echols out more than they need him helping Davis

It is a positive for our offense if he can play either

I believe GA’s starting left tackle is a Freshman. Sometimes they show up ready to play.

Is Curne the permanent starter now?

Who knows?

haven’t heard that.

That’s a good thing. If you had, then so would SC and their defensive staff. I’m fine with finding out when we run our offense out there for the 1st drive Saturday, because that’s when SC would be finding out for the 1st time too.

If not, your post doesn’t make sense.

I disagree with the OP’s post too. But Curne got hobbled toward the end of camp, and before that he was having problems with false start penalties before that. They just didn’t trust him before Saturday, especially on the road.
And all these games are just too important to
put a bad practice player out there just in case he’s a guy that shines with the lights on.
But since he was forced to and proved it—so don’t think he has a false start penalty yet this season. So they saw they can probably trust him, and he’s likely me one of our best 5 guys. Now, do they keep him at RT or maybe move him to LG with Mubanga being out. Not sure if it will be Saturday, but I bet Curne forces his way into the lineup. Moore getting healthy would be huge. He was so slowed down by his injury that it made it hard for him to really help out with both guards on either side. But I do predict there will be a shakeup to the OL before too long, maybe as soon as Saturday.

As bad as he’s been, I’m not giving up on Davis yet, and I don’t think the staff is ready to either. Him and Curne are the highest rated guys on the OL coming out of high school. He clearly has the physical talent.
I think he just needs more reps. He’ll get better as the season progresses and he sees more
things defenses throw at him. He’ll get better knowing who to pick up, who to pass off,
Etc…

And 2 big things that have really hurt him are not having a TE like Mason Taylor or a RB like Josh Williams who can help him in pass pro by chipping guys, picking up blitzes, etc…we really miss those 2 guys. I think Davis looks a lot better if those guys were still here or we had comparable replacements. But there’s a huge drop off from them to Sharp and Durham
relative to helping out in pass pro.

9 times out of 10 BK will play the older player. It's how he is.

I think it's because they've invested financially in some of these guys and don't want to sit them. Like Thompson was a portal add they paid for, but isn't panning out. I feel they should let Curne in his natural position, shift some guys and see what you got. If you can run the ball, I can deal with the growing pains and knowing we have the best out there instead of sticking with guys because we paid them. Just take L there and move on.

The Will Campbell's , 5 stars, coming out high school these days are costing probably 3 to 5 million . Let that sink in for a kid that has not set foot on a college football field. For LSU these type of elite guys at OL from out of state are unicorns. Yet Bama, OH ST, UGA get at least 2 a year.

This has been more of a common theme than most realize.

Curne playing better than Davis has all year.
Durham playing better than Jackson.
Whit Weeks playing better than Perkins.
BTJr playing better than Jenkins and Co.
Emery Jones playing better than Bradford and Co.

There are more, but just time and time again BK allows players who are better to sit the bench while other suck it up or just play mediocre until an injury occurs.

You guys really dig deep to find things to complain about.

Position battles are ongoing when replacing any starter. These things are never that clear cut. Every athlete has good and bad days.

Thats even worse. I have heard multiple talking heads talk about them finding something in Curne and talking about how well he did when getting thrown in there against Ole Miss. So after that we are going back to the guy who was the weak link on an already bad o line?? Thats a bigger cause for concern than my original argument. Even when it slaps them in the face they dont play the better players.

Yes! This is my point exactly. Its the track record of this. The better practice player thing can be an excuse a couple times, but not at the rate it has been in the BK era. Its obvious now this staff's ability to eval players on their roster is piss poor.

He had a problem with false starts all throughout camp and in scrimmages. My guess is he started to get that under control, along with the injury to Davis and Chester being suspended for the first half so it kind of forced their hand and he performed quite well.
