This type of play has happened several times.

It happens at least once a game, it's just that it usually doesn't cost us a run. You knew that it would sooner or later though.

It's really hard to accept it all season long.

No doubt. It's been one of the most frustrating things about this team all year.

It's a lack of fundamentals. He doesn't move to get in front of balls that are outside, just reaches for them. Then he tries to trap low pitches instead of blocking them, which was what happened last night. While he has had several passed balls, there have been numerous wild pitches that were not that difficult to catch.

Not sure about the JC coaching, but Cade S was not a good defensive catcher his first year at LSU, but was very good his second year.

Agreed! Glad Manure had the sack to hook him and bench him. It'll be interesting to see how he plays this evening (assuming he's back in the lineup).

I had really high hopes for him after hearing great things about his play. I know he has had some injuries but the fundamentals seem to be weak as well. Todd Walker was talking about his glove placement last night.

PM pulled him because he let a ball get past him and Auburn scored from the err

Exactly. He was being lazy or did not recognize the ball in the dirt and tried to catch it with his glove instead of blocking it with a runner on 3rd. Happened a lot this year by him.

If CJ Willis makes it to campus is he projected to play behind the plate or on the corners?

This is SEC baseball and no way you can let that ball get past you especially with a man on third. The ball was low and close to the ground but didn't even bounce first. For some unknown reason he tried to backhand it instead of going down and smothering like any catch past 8 years old knows to do.

I haven't been the biggest PM fan but IMO he was correct in pulling him if he is going to give that kind of effort.

Because he fricking sucks at defense. Are you retarded? It’s crystal clear why he was pulled.

Pulmonary should have tried to work in another catcher all year long. He waits till the last series to set an example this shite has been going on all year. Pulmonary either needs to step aside or get qualified coaching at the basic fundamentals of pitching and catching. I mean WTF this is SEC Baseball

We've used three catchers this year. At different points in time they were injured. Sometimes two of them were injured at the same time.

If you aren't even going to pay attention the whole season then maybe you shouldn't share your suggestions on what should be done all season.

When the pitcher’s got an 0-2 or 1-2 count on the batter he can’t throw a dirt bal to try to get a swing and miss for the strikeout without there being a 50-50 chance the ball willend up back against the backstop. Changes the whole pitching phiposophy when pitcher is way ahead in the count. Last year Paps blocked MANY a dirt ball for strikeouts especially that nasty dirt ball cuve that Lange would throw when ahead in the count. With Feduccia I see a lot of backhanding and reaching instead of moving his feet, getting in front of the ball and knocking it down. I really can’t tell if it is a lack of effort or something physical that precludes him from being able to execute. Problem is, I don’t know if the next catcher in line would be any better.
