I'm sure this has been asked/answered many times, but I can't find it.

1. The sweat keeps you cool.

2. Sweaty arms is better than skin cancer. These guys spend a lot of time in the sun.

1 - better than sun screen
2 - light colored fabric reflects keeping direct heat off of skin
3 - fabric wicks moisture off skin keeping you cooler

Miles said it was to show the players that if the coaches can take the heat so can you. Basically saying you have no reason to quit/complain about the heat.

It's not limited to LSU, i think its a common thing in general. NFL/NCAA see it often in pics.

They are new technology.

You wear them for awhile, then just wring them out like a dirty dishcloth.

Of course in Miles's case, he has people wring them out for him and pretty much has a endless supply provided for him.

I've heard Miles say he wears the same thing for every game to show consistency and so the players always knows what to look for to find him. I don't know if his northern roots made him pick to always wear long sleeves or what. Maybe it's just superstition.
