Why didn’t the Bengals put Joe in the shotgun more?

He seemed to really get in a groove when he went all shotgun...they had him under center too much.
Also, I’m scared for his health...his O-Line is a Florida dumpster fire.

I don't know the numbers, but it seemed he was in shotgun for a large majority of their plays.

He was mostly in shotgun .he had a good throw off play action and the rb ran for a good bit when he was under center. They were in shotgun a whole lot more then under center. They did a better job protecting him when he was under center as well..they got better on the line in the 2nd half

They run it a lot out of that formation. His biggest plays came on play action out of that formation.

The current OC, Callahan, is in love with traditional NFL sets.
I'd be surprised if he lasts long. Did you notice him using their last 2nd half timeout when Joe checked in to a 4 or 5 wide shotgun set?
Callahan needs to learn Burrow's offense - not the other way around. Ensminger did exactly that. We all know how that worked out.

They didn’t watch the game after the game to make those decisions during the game like you did..

Their head coach came from the McVay/Shannahan tree.
Bengals would be wise to go after Eric Bieniemy if they don’t show some improvement this year. But I doubt they’d blow it up so quickly.

It amazes me that coaches on all levels like to try to force square pegs in round holes. Les Miles was the King.
CEH didn’t lose a step in KC offense.
I’d love to see Joe in that offense.

They ran plenty of play action from under center where Joe turned his back to the defense. He clearly is not comfortable doing this. If you go back and watch the 2018 season, there is a significant difference in Joe’s Successful execution passing plays from under center vs the gun. Auburn, Georgia, TAM and UCF. The comfort level from one play to the next , depending upon whether he is under center or not, is noticeable.

You have to be multiple in the nfl ,the reason they took a timeout when he checked to 5 wide was the play clock. He made some of his best throws on play action, with his back to the d .if it worked why not do it
