Why did Hamilton sit the first half?

Can anybody tell me why Trent Johnson sat Hamilton after he picked up his second foul for the whole first half? I've never understood why coaches do this.
Hamilton's going to play at least the same amount of minutes(most likely more) before fouling out or the game ending regardless of what point of the game he plays, and its not like he is more valuable at the end of the game like a point guard might be.

Fair criticism. However we did get it to 1 with Hamilton out, so it's not like we were playing badly. Being within single digits and him only having 2 at the half wasn't a terrible decision.

It was debated here after the Florida game on both sides but I'm against summarrily sitting a kid after two fouls.
I think J-Ham is smart enought to play with two fouls.
Actually we closed the gap with him out so we got away with it till we zoned too long and let them stretch it right before half.
And then we came out in the second half with no energy or intentsity and it was over in two minutes.

Eddie plays the 3. Storm plays the 4. As slow as Eddie is, Storm's ability to chase a 3 around is minimal.

Pretty standard move to protect a player with two fouls in the first half. Hamilton fouled out with 4 min left anyway.

Contrare. He had 7 pts in the first half I think but more importantly he could have put a little more defensive pressure underneath on Jones who scored about 25 ish and Davis who had a quiet 15 ish.

Defensive pressure? Did you miss UK dunking at will in the 2nd half when Hamilton was in?

But he played alot in the second half and was a non-factor. Our bigs....all of them, have so many balls that bounce off their hands. Rebounds, loose balls, passes everything. It's maddening.

He was not the only one MIA on the defensive end. I am sure White getting ejected did not help.

I'm asking why it is standard.
It is also pretty standard for NBA coaches to not intentionally foul a bad free throw shooter when that team is holding for last shot at the end of a quarter, but that doesn't make it smart.

That guy from Bama ain't as good as Kentucky's guy and he flat out didn't even let J-ham get a shot off, stuffed him straight up about 4 times, without any help.
That was way down the list of issues with today.

JOB3, Warren, and Hamilton all hit shots at a high percentage from the wings today. They did not get many shots however because the revolving door at the scorers table kept interupting any "hot hands"

A) You still have to try. In the previous game against Miss State they froze Hamilton out as well. I think that going to Hamilton has been ripped out of the play book.
B) Going at the shot blocker once or twice can get that guy in early foul trouble. That seemed to be Kentucky's plan... to go after our best scorer and get some early fouls on him. It seemed like the guards were all too willing to let it happen.
