I honestly dont think LSU has a chance. That being said, crazier things than lsu beating unc have happened. if we get to this game, we would need to capitolize on unc's lack of interest in the defensive side of the ball and hope that we can stop them a few times and get down the court for some easy points. My prediction is that if we even get to this game, which i think we will, we will lose by at least 15 points. But i think that we will have lost to the national champions, if that's any consolation

C'mon! Those teams play UNC a couple of times a year. They know each other inside and out. It's a lot easier to prepare for it when you've seen it before. LSU does not have that advantage.

So UNC can't prepare for LSU because they haven't played us? Hell, all the UNC were on TV. There is no evidence LSU even played most of our games

Maryland, FSU or Clemson all run away with the SEC this season, IMO

Well LSU DID run away with the SEC this season

What seed should Maryland have gotten and what should LSU have gotten? Clearly you feel Maryland should have received much better than a 10 seed and LSU much worse than an 8.

I think Maryland did more with less. LSU to me is really much more talented, but the SEC was really weak overall this year complared to the ACC.

I don't see how that is relevant at all. If anything, you are saying LSU hasn't lived up to its potential and if they play to their talent level could be even better on Saturday.

But I digress, who is better Maryland or LSU and where should they be seeded?

At this point, it's not. I was just pointing out what I thought.

I think LSU during that stretch in coference played about as good as they are going to play. Will that be enough to beat Butler. I think so. But I don't think they will be able to beat Carolina.

I am not sure. I think it's about as even as you can get. I think LSU got hosed because of the ooc games they lost, and the weakness overall of the SEC and losing 3 out of their last 4. Maryland benefited largly from their upset of Carolina i believe. I think LSU should have gotten a 5 or 6. I think Maryland is where they should be.

Well he's projecting a LSU win over Butler. One LSU player that needs to come in big, is Quenton Thornton, and how well he boxes out against the big UNC frontline. He rebounded very well against Miss State.

LSU would have to shoot the ball very well, and have studied that Florida State tape. Florida State came back to beat them - why couldn't LSU do the same?

I hope they don't call the game too tight - that hurts LSU far more than UNC, should they meet.

If they call that game tight, Hansbrough will score at least 30 points. But if LSU is smart with TH, and makes the rest of the team beat them, them LSU has a small chance. If Lawson is effective at getting to the rim, that will just open up a world of hurt.

I would say LSU needs to put them(especially the big man) in foul trouble. If playing defense isn't their strong side lets drive it to the hoops and hope that those big gets enough fouls to slow them down.

I'm counting on a lot of Charges and personal fouls.

Edited: I hate to look ahead, lets beat Butler first.

Not saying that isn't realistic, because TH can and does get in foul trouble, but he takes charges well, and the other two are pretty decent shot blockers.

So if they are even and Maryland has the ability to beat UNC, then so does LSU. Nobody is saying that LSU will beat them, only that they can. The previous poster made a ridiculous comment that if LSU plays its best game, and UNC its worst...LSU still loses by 15.

Lawson out in Round One of the tournament possibly according to ESPN.

Lawson Out?

If he is out in round 2 and we get by Butler than our odds go up a little I would imagine.

I don't believe so, because Maryland plays them twice a year, sometimes 3 if they hook up in the conference tourney. They know what to expect. Look this time of the year, anything can happen I will admit. But in Carolina's defense, Maryland shot lights out and barely won. If LSU had any quality wins that came to mind, I would hold out more hope for the upset. But I don't see any.

I already commented on this. UNC doesn't know what to expect either, and that favors LSU just as much or more. And I was half-joking, but there is a helluva lot more game footage of UNC than LSU.

I really think LSU has been holding back since winning the SEC. I just haven't seen the same team play since the Kentucky game in the SEC tournament. Its like they wanted to prove to all those Kentucky fans that surrounded the dome Kentucky didn't have a chance. Maybe LSU doesn't want to show their cards yet. That would be a great thing.
