I blame Miles for getting LSU into this qb clusterfrick.
I blame Crowton for calling a ridculous gameplan that involves running the option when we obviously don't have the personnel to do so.
I can't blame Jefferson, he is just a student athlete who is struggling. It is the coaches job to see this, give him a breather and put Lee in.

Ok... then why isn't Jarrett Lee improving? As it stands, JJ is STILL the better starting option in the coach's minds.

Here's why I put the blame more on the coaches. It's their responsibility to get the team ready to play.
JJ isn't developing? OK, put in Lee. Oh wait.. he's not developing either..
OK.. let's run the ball more. Well before the 2nd half of the Vandy game, we couldn't run for shite..

Everyone in the offense is underperforming. OLine, WR's, RB's and QB's, and that's not JJ's fault.. he's just the first (and easiest) to notice.

I think JJ and the coaching staff both deserve some criticism. It seems like JJ should be making better decisions by now. The game should have slowed down for him with the experience he's had but it has not.

But, I am really starting to have issues with Crowton. I don't think it's the play calling per say, I think it is the offensive scheme we have been running. It amazes me that we do not get the ball in the hands of the play makers in space. Obviously, it happens sometimes but nothing consistently. I watch other games with teams that have less offensive talent than we do (not just being a homer) and they seem to always have space to work in. Our guys are not put in a position to succeed.

I say alternate in a real game, not a scrimmage. See how each fares, then make a decision. Or just plain alternate. Can't hurt.

The only problem is, Miles named JJ starter, so Crowton in an effort to save his own arse redesigned the offense to best fit JJ. Since all the dude can do is run, even though he's off balance after his second step and couldn't make a cut to save his life, our offense has changed to a 2004/2005 UT read option offense. Shame. The only way JL will play is the same way JJ got his starting job. JJ has to get hurt and then JL has to perform.

At this point, what are you basing this on? His play in 2008 & 2009?

By all accounts JL HAS improved in practice. That's ALL we have to go on right now.

Until he is given more actual playing time, I do not believe it's fair to just sit back & assume he hasn't improved since last season.

That was a pretty damn good looking pass he threw over the middle against Vandy. It looked on the money, to me- and I must say, more accurate than what we were used to seeing the rest of the night.

The time is right. This kid deserves more playing time.

Instead of the grown arse man making $500K a year to coach and develop him into a better QB? Or the knuckle head making $3.75 million that is supposed to be in charge of everything?

JJ is simply a bad QB...the coaches don't overthrow, underthrow, miss the option, fumble, or take stupid sacks. that's ALL on the qb.

Forget that JJ can't spot open receivers, that he fumbles too often, that he takes too long to make decisions, that he really can't run to daylight, that he can't step up into the pocket under pressure!

He can't throw the damn football. He threw low passes, high passes, behind the receiver passes. I haven't seen a HS QB that passes that poorly. You can teach or attempt to teach QB technique, but you can't teach a person to throw an accurate pass if they don't have it! He has an arm, but he he can't throw to a spot!

I don't know if JL is the answer or not, but there is no way he is a worse passer than JJ. If we need a passing game to win the big ones, we will have to make a change!

My thing is, if we're going to be running the option and throwing dump passes, why not put in Spencer Ware, who actually did that in high school and has the athleticism and speed to do it. Otherwise, play to the strengths of the QB in there. Whatever.

totally agree with the execution part, but more importantly you have to have discipline.

The better a team's discipline the better they will execute.

I certainly wouldn't want to lose my job due to the inability of an 19 year old to do his job, but on the other hand, if one of my young employees can't handle it, I replace them.

I agree. Ware may be a better option. How about Shepard? The knock on RS is he is an average passer. Could he be a worse passer than JJ? Hell no! Certainly Shepard is a better runner, has more confidence, and makes quick decisions. How could we lose ground with him vs. JJ?

I know the coaches are not going to give walk-on Barrett Baily a chance, but he was a 3 star on Rivals, he has a strong arm, is 6'5", and is listed as a dual threat QB. Sounds a lot like Sam Bradford who was also a 3 star when he came out of HS.

I have to bow to the coaches, because they supposedly know more than I do about the talent, but it is hard to believe that we have at least seven other athletes on the team who were excellent QB's in HS who are not even being considered:

Shepard
Ware
Sam Gibson
Morris Claiborne
Kellen Theriot
Jai Eugene
Reuben Randle

If the QB's we have are that bad (in other words worse than JJ), then why aren't we looking for a diamond in the rough?

JJ will lead LSU to a National Championship next year! Then everyone will say that he only won because of the talent around him.
