During the middle of the game last week, people were calling the purple jersey cursed because of bad play early on. I'm trying to figure out what in the hell does jersey color have to do with a player making tackles and coverage a player correctly, or missing a block. People need to wake up and understand good football teams are good for a reason, and bad one are bad for a reason. It has nothing to do with jersey color. I love the tradition colors as well but we need to cater to recruits. Just saying.

I know it is not scientific or in any way quantifiable, but I just don't think we play well in purple jerseys. We look slow, confused and unfocused.

I also happen to think our traditional whites are the best looking uniform in all of football (college or pro).

It's the only thing to rant about right now.

That 2011, 2007, and 2003 teams could have kicked peoples butt wearing street cloths. Its doesn't matter.

People think that LSU should only wear gold pants and helmets and white jerseys because it’s tradition. “Alabama only has 2 jerseys, one pant and one helmet....so LSU should be the same” is god awful to hear. As long as the team stays within the brand colors, I don’t care what we wear. It’s okay to switch it up from time to time.

A lot of superstition down in south Louisiana. LSU fans have always been extremely superstitious

We haven’t played well in our traditional whites vs Alabama the last decade.

Here's why:
quote:

A consistent, classic brand is more powerful and lasting. It is marketing 101. Our uniforms, colors, logo, etc. are all integral parts of our brand. One uniform change might be fun for a handful of recruits one weekend, but I promise being consistent carries more weight in the long term.

Look at Alabama and USC.

The only school where crazy uniform changes helps them recruit is Oregon because of Nike's investment and because Oregon has no classic brand. Their brand is not having consistent look.

I love how LSU has started standardizing the helmet tiger logo on everything. We have really begun to develop better branded materials.

What a bunch of horseshite.

Win, baby, that's how to get recruits to want to come to your school - not bad music in the stadium, not SWAC-style uniforms, just winning.

One of these things is not like the other.

Not SWAC style uniforms

So LSU is continually at the forefront with Nike. If you want swac uniforms, maybe we should switch to Russell.

You are probably right, but I believe in 2007 we wore purple jerseys against Tulane in the dome. We played absolutely awful. We just didn't look as crisp. I blame the jerseys.

I didn't say every time we play in white we play well. I just stated that it seems every time we play in purple we play less than our best.

I blame it being Tulane and an 11a kick in New Orleans. Needless to say, players were out past curfew.

Okay to switch it up sometimes but back to back weeks is a bit much. If Vandy is electing to wear white we should wear gold-purple-gold

Ding, ding, ding! You don't see Alabama, USC, Ohio St and the Penn St's of college football doing this. But listening to the Coach O show last night he did mention that the recruits and young guys on the team like the change and flash. I honestly don't mind it for a couple of games a year and it's a nice change. Your uniform and colors do represent your school, so that is why it matters and people get hung up on it!

Do you want the UPS man or USPS or FedEx or Charter guy rolling up at your house in a broken down piece of shite truck wearing cut off blue jeans and flip flops? Sometimes it just matters!

Yeah 2 games a year is my max. I also don’t know why we don’t dust off the 2011 Auburn all whites more often

great uniforms can enhance the enjoyment of watching college football.

bad uniforms detract.

is there anything worse in the modern era of big screen high def tv's and have to watch a game in black and white?

the teams that have red as their color seem to be the worst. they want to wear all black.

I would be in favor of a rule that teams have to wear their school colors. you can vary the uniforms with your real colors, as we do.
