The reason LSU retired Billy Cannon's #20 is because Jerry Stovall asked for it the very next season. The balls on that guy.
And yeah, Stovall was that good. They gave him #21.

There’s no bigger Burrow fan-boy than me, but I’m also a believer in waiting at least 5 years before retiring anyone’s number or erecting any statues. All the sports HOF follow a 5-year rule. Allows a little perspective.

I’m not disagreeing that 9 shouldn’t be retired, but let Brooks wear it the rest of his career.
If anyone’s number should be retired, it should be Kevin Faulk’s.
Not only did he have a great career here, he started us on the path that we are still
enjoying. He started the trend of the best local players coming here instead of
Florida St, Florida, Miami etc
