Where I do have a problem, is not pounding into your QB's head to be smart with the football and realize the tradeoff between losing precious seconds off the clock vs. getting a couple yards on a dump pass to your RB who gets tackled in bounds. The 3 yards Ridley got on the dump pass was not worth the 20 seconds that ticked off the clock having to get everyone lined back up. You throw the ball away, and try your hand at 2nd and ten with more time on the clock, rather than 2nd and 7 with the clock running.

Agreed on that. This is obviously one of JJ's weaknesses and a good reason for Miles to keep that last timeout in your pocket instead of burning it on UNC's 3rd down. It'd be nice to have a QB with a little more game management sense, but he's just not on the roster.

I was yelling at Ridley to go out of bounds. It was obviously what the play was designed for, but he cut it up field for an extra yard and cost us however many seconds it was.

Again, the play calling was correct, but the boneheaded cut up field is where the problem lies.

ETA: Am I the only one here that realizes this? Did no one else get mad at Ridley for cutting it up when the coaches wanted him to get a couple of yards and get out of bounds?

watched it, and it left me sick to hear how poorly Les is deemed in their minds. throughout the show there were multiple references to poor coaching, and there is no question that the penl of experts think Les is an idiot.

I try to take what these guys say with a grain of salt, but if pay attention you realize that nobody is hating on the team, just the coaching staff.

Anybody with a lick of sense realizes that LSU has a shitload of talent, even Bama fans will tell you that. What LSU is missing is the quality coaching needed to maximize the potential of said talent. This is what the so-called media "Experts" have been harping on for a while now. I can't say that I disagree with them on that point.

Miles botched the timing at the end of the half.

Seriously? The offense was trying to get a play off, and they should have to save the time out for a FG or shot at the endzone. They weren't getting there quick enough, so he used a time out. That happens every week in the NFL.

So much blind Miles support or just poor football knowledge in this thread I don't even know where to start.

As for the debate about using the timeout on defense, why let UNC just run off 40 seconds of clock? When you have the ball on offense, you can run the hurry up, or you can spike the ball. You can easily run 2 to 3 more plays even without the time out. But I will admit that others have the same philosophy of keeping the time out for offense.

Whoever said others would sit on the ball there with a 20 pt lead? What? A 20 pt halftime lead is never insurmountable. The only time you sit on the ball there is when you are deep in your own territory. LSU was getting the ball near midfield and only needed 1 first down to get into FG range.

As for those saying Les was calling for timeout with 23 seconds left, I call BS. If the coach wants a time out after the play, he is running to an official screaming "Time out!" The offense would not be trying to line up on the ball because no coach would have told them to. The clock was at 23 seconds after the play, then LSU tried to scramble to the line of scrimmage, then at 15 seconds Les calls a time out. Simply put, it was a Chinese Fire Drill.

Then we have the Jordan Jefferson backpedal and interception. How can he still do this after last year's Ole Miss debacle (where he took a sack to move us out of FG range)? Has he not learned that you absolutely can't take sacks in a 2 minute drill. Instead of trying to backpedal from the rush, simply throw the ball away when you FIRST start to feel pressure.

I was flipping through to check if I got ESPNU for the game on satuday and noticed this show on the guide. Is it worth watching on a regular basis?

I have watched it!! At the game and DVR, twice. The times that I observed LM, he was no where near the official. It must be your only job to go on message boards and defend a coach who has displayed his incomptence more than once. Over ll000 posts, what a frikin joke!! Get a life, cyberbully!!

Before you call anyone a punk, you better get a Grip!! The Rant is nothing but a place for people like you who have no real authority with anything in life to come on here and call people names. This is a waste of my time to try and defend myself to people who I dont even know and give a rats arse about! I'm done!!

So you're trying to say that at the 23 second mark Les was standing by the official trying to call a time out and the ref waited until the 15 second mark to stop the clock?
