I still remember people saying how can you trust a coach with the name Jimbo.

All if them in the first year.

The new standard will be the duel threat OC Allgeron, just when you thought Malveto wasn't bad enough.

Jimbo was constantly criticized for the amount of bubble screens and HB dives out of the shotgun. Can't count the number of times Addai or Shyrone Carey took that handoff up the middle or Skyler Green popped out in the bubble screen.
Brandon LaFell had 2 TDs in 2006 and both were 50yd bombs when Fisher finally started letting Russell throw deep.
I would take those bubble screens and shotgun/HB delayed dives all day long compared to what we are trying to do on offense now.

Everyone loved Cameron in 2013.

the only time i remember people grumbling about jimbo was after the 2006 Auburn game

Surprisingly, there has never been a more universally beloved OC in Baton Rouge than Crowton in 2007.
I was one of the first and probably the biggest critics of Crowton in 08, but in 2007 there honestly just wasn't anything to complain about on the offensive side of the ball other than probably going away from Scott in the second half of the Kentucky game. And as a huge Miles fan even I put the blame mostly on him there, not Crowton.
2007 was probably the most exciting and fun season I've witnessed, and a huge part of it was that I just never felt like we were out of a game because we could put up 40 any time we needed.
03 and 11 were great but there is always anxiety when you are relying on even a great defense to keep other great teams out of the end zone.
07 just didn't matter. We'll stop you most of the time (at least before Chaz Ramsey

When FSU hired Jimbo as OC a shitload of LSU fans migrated to their messageboards to make fun of them

The guy who should be our HC right now

There was constant criticism regarding Jimbo's overuse of the "bubble screen".
But damn, it sure worked. Especially with Josh Reed. Put that former RB in space with the ball.

Nah, it was very good, but we were still a defensive team in 03.
The offense was AWFUL against Florida. Shut out and converted like 2 third downs all game.
The Ole Miss win while amazing was all on the D. Offense just didn't have it that day. Even the Auburn win was driven by defensive stops and we were lackadaisical against South Carolina and Alabama.
I'm not complaining. Love that offense but it wasn't GREAT like in 07 when it just didn't matter what the other team did because we just knew were going to score. Haven't had that feeling about an LSU team before or since, except for the end run of 2001, when Jimbo and Saban FINALLY let Ro and Reed do their thing.

1 game doesnt just erased the rest of the season.
maybe i should've said," great by lsu standards"

we were only great bevause we ran for 3000 yards.
our qb play in 07 was very average.
Jordan Jefferson has 2 seasons with a better qb rating than Flynn had in 07.

I listed five

But yeah it's definitely one of the best by LSU standards for sure, and will always be one of my favorites.

That's a lot though

Nah, Flynn was a gamer, and that was part of our offense. We were aggressive as shite and weren't scared to make a mistake because we knew we could make up for it.
Flynn threw 30 passes a game, over 200 yards a game, and 21 touchdowns. And that's WITH a team that ran for 3000 yards. It was remarkable not even just in terms of LSU history.
Not a JJ hater here (or Lee), but Flynn didn't have the entire offense on his shoulders like JJ did in his good season in 09 when we couldn't run the ball for shite. Flynn could take risks, so he had more incompletes and picks.
But he was a very good compliment to that ground game, and Crowton used him to really maximize that offense unlike anything I've seen in Baton Rouge.
