I agree with this.
Who here thought we could beat Georgia Tech in their backyard in 2000?? I certainly didn't, and we did. And GaTech was A LOT better and more talented then than they are now and we were A LOT worse and less talented then than we are now.
One thing I've learned from bowl games over the years is that about 70% of the time the opposite of what you expect happens, and there is a reason for that. A Bowl game is the only game of the season (besides the season opener) where the underdog has to hear for a month that they have no shot, and in the same sense the favorite has to hear for a month that they're going to win. It's human nature that the favorite gets the big head and doesn't prepare as they should in the month leading up to the game and the underdog prepares very well for a month and comes out with something to prove and typically wins because bowl games are for the most part a match of pretty equal teams to begin with in most cases (except for when Ohio State is matched up against an SEC team).
ETA: Speaking of that game in 2000, that was my favorite LSU bowl game of all time, including the two national title games. I just had a hell of a time at that game and really enjoyed the comeback and the resurgence of LSU football that year. It was a great cap to a great turnaround year.

thank you Brandon Winey for dressing out at halftime to stop Pittman...

LSU definitely can beat GT...and GT could beat LSU, depends on how the team comes out on gameday. Lately they've been more or less going through the motions more often than not, and GT is playing to prove themselves.

"I would think that LSU would be favored by about 7"
No way.....we would be underdogs, especially after what they did in Athens last Saturday

GaTech would be favored by 3-6 points against LSU in the GaDome, possibly a tad more depending upon what happens with our defensive coaching staff.

you need discipline to stop an option attack.

Yeah, that would be fun. Another type of offense the Defensive cordinators couldn't figure how to stop or at least slow down.

We do have a better run D than Ga and GT doesn't have much of a defense either. Could go either way IMO.

I'm not positive we could win this game. Living in Atlanta, I've been able to see Tech play several times this year and their defense is legit. The offense is hit and miss, but I feel it'd be a long night for the Tigers.

we stop the run better than the pass. note Alabama game. we need to score some points however. and don't give them any off offense.

LSU is better than Georgia Tech at EVERY position on the football field (I'm assuming #9 starts at QB for the Tigers).
So that means we should keep it within 7.

me. a team that doesn't pass is our only hope.

Although our D has played horribly this year, we would have an advantage many of GT's opponents have not had. Most teams have about 3 days to defend against GT. 3 days is not very long to get ready for this offense because it's so different than the offenses run by most D1 schools. It's like the mid 80's when schools had to try to stop the run & shoots. LSU would have several weeks to practice against GT's offense and might have a shot at slowing them down.

you must be on the sauce tonight...
this LSU team has progressively gotten worse as the season has gone on....
is Ga. Tech better than Arkansas?
there's your answer

GT's D is no pushover, the jacket's D is allowed 28TDs and 312 ypg, and Morgan Burnett is tied for first in the nation with 8 interceptions this season. GT as a team is 8th int he country for most interceptions.
and granted LSU has more talent almost across the board than GT (I do think Dwyer is better than the LSU RBs), GT's players are playing better than most of LSU's

NO. Ga Tech would grind it out on offense, and watch our offense fall apart.

Not me. Georgia Tech by 14.

We would have the advantage of several weeks and plenty of game film to prepare. A good portion of the success of Johnson's offense comes because it is so different than everything else you see during the year. It's hard to fully prepare for it in 5 days.
It's kind of like Hawaii against Georgia last year. Given the time to study film and break down the Hawaii offense, UGA was prepared and stomped them good. That being said, GT is way more talented than Hawaii was, and our D isn't as good as that Georgia D was.
I don't expect us to be favored, no. But some people around here are talking like the Wreck are the 1985 Chicago Bears and we're the Grace King j.v. squad.

And we can't fricking run the ball for shite so we say it's cause of our QBs and the fact teams stack the line.
First off, you are an idiot. Check the stats: 2007 yards, 4.4 per cary, 23 TDs, 163 per game. These stats are still strong, even though we struggled the last 3 games on the ground. Do you not think fatigue from playing 8 games in a row had nothing to do with that? A lot of teams would kill for that line.
As far a GT is concerned, if the two teams played today, they would kill us. Maybe there is a glimmer of hope if a new DC comes in and gets the defense motivated and focused. Sometimes a change can do that. Anybody remember the Arkansas game in 1999? I have never in my life seen the demenor of a team change so drastically in one week.
Miles has all but named Jefferson the starter for the game. If they get him prepped and give him the keys to the entire offense, then I think we will have some success. I think the rest will benefit Scott and the O-Line. It will be hard to win, but with the right hires for the D, I think you will see effort more like the Bama game in the bowl.

I'll take the triple option over the Texas Tech offense.
