I wish LSU would stop the #7 and 18. It is meaningless. The players don't remember how it started our what it means. Its time has passed. Players should be proud of their number whatever that number is. Numbers don't matter making good plays does.

18 has meaning. its not about on field play, its about leadership and hard work. It says a lot to NFL GMs about a player's character.

I do wish they would stop giving it to 2 players though. It gets watered down if there are 2 of them. Pick a player and reward him with the number, stop trying to give everyone a trophy.

As for 7, that's a "look at me" tradition that needs to end. Its not about the team, its about the individual. Every player that has worn 7 since PP7 except Chark has left the program early. Its a bright star highlighting the root of our continual depth problems. Obviously the vast majority of those guys would have gone pro early anyway but we don't need to make it a celebrated thing.

I don't care about the numbers, but honestly I'd say Ricks or Boutte

Stingley if he wants it. If he doesn’t again, I think it’ll be Ricks mostly cuz that’s the only other dude on the team that deserves it lol

don’t know about recruits but the players on the team care a lot about those two numbers.

I can get on board with 18. Bestowing the #7 on a player tells them they have to be perfect. Because the moment they make a mistake, they no longer deserve it. We get the same threads every year no matter who wears it. It does more harm than good. Just my opinion.

We need to get rid of the 7 and 18 tradition.

Better question is how long before they retire #9?

Even before that, everyone after TM7 didn’t deserve it at one point. That’s why it’s stupid.

Im pretty sure LF7 and Chark did it justice after that.

Personally, I’m like whatever but if the players want to do it, what’s the problem?

"18" meant more when it went from a Senior to a Freshmen, like when it started with Mauck to Hester.

The "7" is different, I think it should go to the "game changer" guys.

I do not think Stingley wants the "7" even though he would be a great candidate.

Put 18 and 7 on the mascot and keep that shite off the field.

If that’s your opinion, great. But we still got the weekly “ _____doesn’t deserve it” with both. Yes, even LF7 was deemed unworthy. I ‘member.

He’s wise enough to realize he can leave his own legacy and not get in line for whatever legacy a number tells him he has to leave. He wants to stand out, not be a name on a list. Respect.

No year illustrates this point more than this year, where our first choice for #7 opted out a couple of months after announcing he was wearing #7.

Which rantard deemed one of the leading rushers in LSU history “unworthy of #7”?

It’s been years so I couldn’t tell you, but relying on my own memory, there were at least a few.
