do we need to hit portal?
Kelly knows that the QB position is far and away the most important position on the team. He is too smart to "hope" Nuss is the man. Four of the last six Heisman winners have been transfer quarterbacks. Kelly will scrutinize the portal for a QB.

they need to get more competition by signing someone from the portal.

Why don't we wait until after the Florida game to give an informed opinion.
If Daniels can't play, Nuss will be competing with a Portal QB at Florida.
Judging from the Portal defenders the staff has signed, I wouldn't be too optimistic about bringing in a QB.
Nuss will be starting somewhere next season. I would rather he play for us than one of our opponents. Just imagine how he would light up a House defense.

Hilton,Lacey nor Anderson are #1 receivers. Best case we have a couple of #2 receivers. In a scenario like this, your TE needs to be a difference maker. The talented TEs we claim to have are lacking passing game targets

Lacy absolutely can be if he can improves his catch consistency. He’s had a couple of great flashes this season, with one being that great catch and effort to get into the end zone just before half last night. Sampson has the ranking and the physical tools to make a big impact. We just need to see it on the field.

As for the TEs, Pimpton is a raw freshman, but he absolutely has the measurables to have a big impact in the passing game. Taylor has been off this season, but he produced very well from mid-season on last year.

You guys just assume the worst for the hell of it. I’ll wait and see what actually happens, because the cupboard isn’t bare on offense by any stretch.

Maybe not, but he’s got some impressive physical tools. You never know what can happen with a guy like that. I’m sure a lot of people assumed the same about Milroe at Bama, too.

He was the perfect QB to take in an “in-between” year. Guys like him know they are coming in needing to develop to ever have a shot. If they don’t and you hit on your primary year guys, it doesn’t hurt you if they are just depth. If they do hit, then you have a monster athlete at QB.

Catastrophe syndrome at its best. It’s like rational thinking doesn’t exist for some.

I know you’re kidding, but not this year unless he graduates as a sophomore.

Not hardly ...Milroe was a solid 4* ( very close to 5*) coming out of HS.

And I’m sure Brian Kelly will send that hit in to the SEC as well. Every team sends in questionable calls every week. And every fan base is hypocritical, even LSU’s.

I wasn’t comparing Milroe and Collins head to head. I’m just saying no one expected him to beat out Ty Simpson before last season. It was assumed he would be a depth guy there or a running option, especially when BOB was still their OC. He didn’t exactly run an offense designed for a run-heavy QB.

Sometimes the guy you don’t expect wins the job when it comes time to actually compete.

Wait, what happened? Earlier this season he was a cannon being held back by the coaches.

Daniels was hurt going into the SECCG. Nuss took a lot of the 1 reps in practice. He got equal reps for the bowl game. Anyone who thinks this doesn’t make a difference over coming in cold off the bench doesn’t know anything about football.

This. Couldn't say it that much better myself.

Him being the likely the clear QB1 next year and getting those reps in the off season and I think we'll be more than fine next year. QB is the least of my worries next year.

I hope Nuss can be an SEC starter, but hope is not a plan.
