Here is a good article on the cornerback situation from olive - more in depth than their usual paltry stuff. I personally like all three options. Grady will be an upperclassman with experience and athleticism and the two redshirt frosh look like future NFL talent - we've seen quite a bit of that lately.

Anyway, the safety situation is even better. Serious question: how did this guy get out of SEC country (Brian Jackson)? He comes from Hoover, Alabama (161 tackles and 3 ints his senior year and 1st team all-alabama). He playing with his hair on fire this camp.

He got out of SEC country because he wasn't good enough to land any decent offers in the region. Actually, he didn't have a single SEC offer on the plate.

I know. He had a shitty offer list. Oklahoma State and us with an offer from UCF as his third best.

That's not to say he hasn't developed into a great player, but he just wasn't very highly recruited out of high school

As long as they're not as good as Cliff Harris, I don't care.

Ducks fans try to play it down, but the replacement won't be nearly as good as Cliff

Well, gee, let's see. I'll tick off our WR roster for you...

Rueben Randle - #1 WR in America coming out of HS. Had 33 catches for around 750 yards last year as the #2 receiver in an anemic pass offense. If you see our QB improve, you will see him improve. His talent & ability is undeniable. The guy raped Alabama's secondary last year, & he's a very capable guy. He also has sticky hands in the clutch. Definitely doesn't shrink from the moment, as the 2nd half of the 'Bama game will attest.

#2 Shepard - Status is up in the air for the game. If you ask me, though, this is patented Miles. Look for #10 to play in Dallas, barring something unforeseen.

#3 James Wright - I think Wright's edged ahead of Boone in camp judging by his willingness to block, coupled with a noticeable Moffetization Effect (This is what happens when the nation's best S&C Staff-run by the nation's best S&C Coordinator-gets ahold of kids; they BLOW UP). He's got soft hands & showed decent blocking capability last year. He's much tougher this year based on what I've seen from practice & videos of our Big Cat drill. Very impressed with him. Toughness gets you onto the field in Gonzo's stable of wideouts.

#3A/4 Kadron Boone - A guy I think is primed for a big year if he gets a chance. Boone is undersold a bit because of all the talent ahead & behind him, but don't sleep on him. Florida QB John Brantley's father runs one of the most long-term successful programs in Florida, & Boone is a product of it. His tapes in HS showed serious polish as a route-runner, as a physical player, as a special teams returner, & with little things like going up & reaching the ball at its highest point on long vertical throws he made his QB's look good one.

Last year, he was caught in a numbers game, & we admittedly had two unbelievably talented kids at wideout behind him (I'm laughing at you short-selling Jarvis Landry. We've been watching him tear it up in high-level LA HS Football & at camps against the nation's best at their positions since he was a Sophomore blowing up in the Dome at the LHSAA Championships). This year, though, I think Boone is going to get a chance to make plays, & I think he has the ability to do it in spades.

#5/#6 Jarvis Landry/Odell Beckham Jr - Landry is one of the nation's best receivers coming out of HS. As a matter of fact, both Deion Sanders & Jerry Rice pulled him aside at the Under Armor All-American game to tell him that he needed to keep his head down and keep working, as he had NFL ability.

He then went out and won the MVP award with a collarbone/shoulder/clavicle injury. Basically played with one arm.

Beckham is the son of a former Tiger great & another collegiate track athlete who played the last 4 years in the Catholic League out of New Orleans. He was a 4* as a CB, but also as a WR, as well. The path of least resistance for him getting onto the field worked out at the slot receiver position.

We don't get into Freshman unless we go 4 wide, & even then, most of our 4-wide looks will include DeAngelo Peterson, a 6-3, 242 pound Tight-End who signed with us out of Danny Weurffel's Desire Street Academy in New Orleans (I'll give you one guess as to what Street the school was located on). He signed as a WR, & he has not lost that speed. He gives us a serious option for counters & constraint plays where we line up with a wide receiver. Great hands, if he does shy away from contact a bit after he catches the ball.

But, even if we do go to 4-legit-wides in certain formations, then we'll probably tap a Junior, another Junior (status questionable in Shepard), then a True Sophomore-either of which have seen significant playing time & made plays for LSU), and THEN two unbelievably talented young 18 year olds.

So, when we got to exotic formations that we aren't going to feature as a base, we may play some 18 year olds at skill positions. Ordinarily, that's a bad thing. But, when you're talking about the #1 athletes at their positions in HS last year, we're not talking about any shrinking violets, homeslice.

my thought as well, but we're like to have a little success in the air if they are going to throw out 2 FReshman and a skateboarder

Nawlins - he wasn't that highly regarded by our standards. Coach Neal picks some odd "ducks" sometimes. We have put 5 dbs in the NFL the last 3 seasons and they were all very lightly recruited kids.

Lester - Gildon has a spot locked down as fifth year senior and 8 starts. The other three are competing for the other side. Also, Patterson, a redshirt soph, isn't mentioned by he will play nickle, a la Mathieu.
