Proven LSU stars:
LF7 is my number 1.
But damn, Faulk, Cannon, Alexander and Hilliard. I loved watching Dalton play the game. I've got to throw Faneca in there too.
Defense: honey badger, pp7, brooks.
One player who stayed hurt and never shined, but!.......I knew players on the team in the late 90's. Several of them said one guy was amazing in practice and by far the most talented pure athlete on the field, was: Terrence O'Bryant.
He could never put it all together, but some great players from those teams told me how they wished they could see him on the field more. It never worked out for him.

Wow we made it to page 4, and unless I missed something I didn't see Glenn Dorsey posted yet. I know we all love the flashy guys but this dude was pure beast.
Agree with most players named, but Dorsey needed to be in this thread.

Cassanova. Played two ways and excellent at both positions

Im 48 been watching LSU football since I was 5
Honeybadger is the most talented LSU football player I've seen on the field of play.
Crazy to say that IMO but it's the truth. Guy did things I haven't seen done by 99.5% of football players period

All time to me = 4 years. Fournette is so good that he could be "all time" greatest running back in LSU history in only 3 years.
Considering that most Tigers on the team for four years don't play much their freshman or even sophomore year, your reasoning is a bit arbitrary.
Guys like Fournette and Mathieu began playing at a very high level as freshman, which in of itself is amazing.

See it all depends ok how yoj define talent.
If you think talent is athletic ability then the most talented Tigers are probably Laron Landry ( people forget how great he was at lsu. He led the 2003 team in tackles as a true freshman)and PP.
If you think talent is football instincts then youd probably pick TM7.

Tyrann, because talent always wins.

I would argue that Mathieu had fantastic athletic ability. Great speed and elite quickness combined with sure tackling.
The biggest thing with him is that he was so dynamic in his role. Guys like Peterson end up having limited stats because other teams actively avoid them. Mathieu was mostly allowed to roam the field, and so he was constantly around the ball. Having a guy with his quickness and tenacity allowed him to do that at such a high level.

Jerry Stoval or Tommy Cassanova

In my lifetime, it's a toss up between Peterson and Mathieu. Chad Jones is in the convo and so is Jamarcus.

3 time All-American is pretty hard to beat. The hit on Johnny Musso is almost enough to get my vote by itself.

That is a damn fine observation and not an obvious one, yeah, Brooks was a beast!
Other less obvious choices: Todd Kinchen; AJ Duhe.
Dalton Hilliard and Wendell Davis come to mind.
Obvious choices: Cannon; Stovall; Casanova; Jones; Alexander; Faneca; Dorsey; Mathieu; Peterson; Fournette; Brockers, to name just a few.

There are three guys who could play both offense and defense at an elite level and could (and did)take punts and KO's all the way: Cannon, Casanova and Peterson (yes, I know we didn't use PP on offense).
Tyran is very close, but I just don't know that he had the talent to play offense (WR?) and perform at that high level like the others.
Oh, and Mike Brooks was awesome.
