We were walking in Chicago during Labor day weekend with LSU gear on.

3 kids from the Soutside who were between the ages of 10-12 walked up to us and told us they wanted to go to LSU and be like Odell Beckham.
He wins. Thread over.

Probably the same as the richest and most marketable LSU athlete of all times. It's not even close. It is Shaquille O'Neil, hands down. The Big Aristotle! Shaq Daddy! $350 million net worth and growing. Don't disrespect Shaq like that.

good thing the OP didn't specify "except shaq" or it might have turned into a debate.

I see a lot of mention for Pistol Pete. I just don't think you can pull a random person off the sidewalk, show them a picture of pistol and get a correct answer. As mentioned, Shaq, OBJ is getting pretty well known besides football, and Lolo.

Exactly. Unless you are a huge basketball fan you probably don't know Pistol Pete. However, basketball fan or not you know who Shaq is.

assuming most of the posters answering shaq actually went to school at some point. they must have slept through that whole "reading" thing.

Pistol or Shaq....
Depends on your age and your knowledge of LSU atheltic history.
Pistol was more dominating but played on an average team. Shaqs larger than life personality has him on TV alot.

Internationally; It's gotta be Lolo Jones. Not to mention she is drop dead gorgeous.

I'm sitting in a coffee shop in Austin, Tx. I just asked all my neighbors if they know who pistol pete is. Not one person.

But they all know Shaq.

Pistol Pete is famous in Louisiana, not sure his fame extends beyond the state.

He's a basketball legend. People who actually know much of anything about sports should know who he is well beyond Louisiana. It's just that he played a long time ago, and people who don't actually follow sports kind of closely won't know who he is. Ask your neighbors if they know who Jerry West is. They probably won't if they don't know Pistol, and West is the fricking logo.
